  • I don't do any short distance training and my PB is 20:20 (TT bike). A genetic equiv pro could probably knock minutes off that without even training (road bike). Someone who is genetically best as a basketballer might add a couple of minutes. It depends on what your potential is.

If I don't get a club record this weekend (I won't) I will try hitting the short shit harder early next year (if I'm not totally obsessed with TABR).

  • On a road bike? Sub 20:00 is certainly possible on a good course.

Course record (at least on Strava is 19:33)

Thanks @mdcc_tester and @hippy. Whilst I'm probably not going to get sub 20 it sounds like there's a lot of scope to come down from my 25:39

  • on Strava

Please refrain from swearing on the TT thread

  • @Ste_S at the end of last year I did a 23.07 on a road bike with clip on aero bars.
So far this year my best is a 21.48 on a TT bike with a cheap skinsuit and bambino style helmet. I've done modest training over the winter. Looking back, a faster course and kit are prob the main diff!

  • Definitely scope to bring it down by a couple of minutes.

It's hard to give a good picture, but we have a strong young guy in our club (solid cat3 racer) who often races our club TTs. He does under 22 on the h10/17r, a reasonable course with a 19:01 record.

  • K37/10P is a pretty fast course, up there with K11/10T and K33/10D (and the secret K11/10B) in Midland district, they're all much the same speed. That time Scott did wasn't in a race and probably as a 2-up training effort with Richard Bradley, no-one's gone under 20min solo on there.

One of our (AeroCoach's) riders is Alex Stephenson-Brown, who does 22:xx on a road bike on that course.

  • Still no start list for F11/10 this weekend.

    Please be cancelled.

I hit the turbo last night - it wasn't as bad as I thought but it was pretty bad. Scraped through a 10min 105% threshold effort after a 10min 95% threshold effort. Not so good if I'm supposed to be on 110% or something for 20min.

  • Take it it's a roadworks issue? If it is cancelled, I can go drinking all weekend.

    I feel pretty conflicted.

  • drinking all weekend

    Please let it be this.

Except I also have the P881R or something entered and I'm off at fucking 5 in the afternoon! That's my third beer o'clock!

  • I think I've lost 50w off my threshold.

  • I'm too scared to test it. I only give a shit about my 10mi time and I just don't think I can make the power needed to get close to 19:55. My knees are still achy and my quads were close to cramp so at full gas I'll probably last 5min and then blow up and crawl home.

  • Indeed. Don't know how you've the energy! Or will!! I think I'll be at a whole month off the bike before I start training again.

Lucky there's a year to get back into shape, to just trash myself again. A shame.

  • I put my name in the hat for the Revolve and entered the 10s before TCR so the 10s are basically a little sharpening for the Revolve24 but I'm still clinging onto the idea of getting the club 10 record even though I know my legs are fucked. It's stupid but like you say, I have months of winter to get over the damage I do.

  • Yeah. Just take a good brake when you do. Your body and mind will need it.
Better to take longer off and have to build back more, than try and hold some of that fitness and just get ill/injured in March.

  • I did a 24.31 last year on my sweet fixie (80") with bullhorns, spokey wheels and normal roadie clothes. I now own a comete disc, a LFGSS skinsuit and tri bars and have managed to get that down to 24.22. :(

Stick with the road bike and training.

  • Dude, have you ever seen me overtrained in March? I'm not one of these 'smash turbo all winter only to fade before the proper races start' guys. I'll rest, don't worry.

    enters Route66 race

    enters 24hr Worlds

    enters RAAM

  • It's cancelled.

  • Dear Rider,

You have entered the VC10 event for Bank Holiday Monday.

Due to circumstances beyond my control this event is cancelled.

I am currently out of the country and the event organiser due to run the event on the day is unable to fulfill his role on the day due to a family issue.

On my return to the UK next week I will be contacting the CTT to arrange a full refund to you.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

After all the issues we have suffered on this course running events VC10 will no longer be running Open or Club events.

    Have a good weekend.

    Regards

    Greg

  • Shame they aren't going to be running any more tts

Glad I got my entry in for the Bossard wheelers one on the f11/10 on Saturday as well...

  • Is that "no more TTs" or "no more TTs on the F11/10"?

I saw that other F11/10 but didn't enter because in all honesty I'm not that bothered about riding and especially not 10s.

  • I'm not sure they do much else other than F11/10, do they?

  • So the HQ isn't the usual one. Google Maps and a car sat nav will tell you to turn right off the A2070 just as you start to go down the hill. If you want to see the whole thing you can carry on down the hill then once it's flattened out take the next turning on the left. The HQ is a mile up on the left.

  • By the way, they have showers! Still expect to see people changing out of their sweaty skinsuits in the car park after though...

  • Now possibly un-cancelled....
