Most important part of racing... picking the tunes for the drive out to the HQ...
-
• #12078
Tunes? Radio 4 in the car, old chap. No tunes on Radio 4.
-
• #12079
Yeah, that can happen. Stuff can go wrong.
Actually it looks like a decent morning right now! -
• #12081
Laugh it up. Next race I won't be sat by the roadside for a minute putting a chain back on.
Anyone got an old Shimano braze on front derailler that I can butcher for a chain catcher?
-
• #12082
It was pretty good. Nicer after I'd finished, obviously but still seemed warmer and drier than last year. Should be some faster times at the tail end.
-
• #12083
Times?

Just had a look at the power file.
I rode a 21:33 with a full 1m10s producing 0 watts, another 5 seconds to get up to full power and then I quit when I went past last year's 20:53 PB marker.

21:33 with 1:10 out for a little picnic.
I've think now I've definitely got the potential to take the club 10 record on a faster course.
I did do my fastest ever Powertap battery swap this morning though... but that was due to the case having cracked while in storage so it was easy to remove. :S

Aw that sucks @Hippy - were you trying to move into the inner ring, or are you currently running single?
Beautiful day for a TT though. I actually arrived at HQ well early for once allowing me plenty of time to wrestle on those fucking Velotoze things. Even my pacing felt good as I took the out leg fairly steady ready to slog into the return headwind. It was obvious I hadn't done any training for the last 6 months and the fact this was actually the first time I'd ridden the downsized Precursa as I think I achieved a fairly mid-pack time. Still nearly 45-50secs off the same course last year though, so I'm happy with that.

Ah that's crap and completely ruins my very small victory - well call it a no score draw for this one....!
-
• #12088
Winner was John Dewey with 19:11 then tops then Rob sharland with mid 19s
I put out 5w more than my best 10, but was a bit of chicken on the rabs and slightly chickened out at half way as I thought I was going a bit hard but average he suggests there's a fair bit more in the tank.
21:14 for me.Looks like there's another event there in a couple of weeks so will try to do that as i think knowing thencoursebis probably worth a few seconds!

I REALLY want to race some tts now.
Going to have to make it happen. Not sure how to handle CTT and being a private.
That and a bike. -

Second claim to lfgss cc? Or first claim as I suppose you're not a member of anything else.
-
• #12091
^Yeah LFGSS.cc is still free membership, right?
-
• #12093
Thanks. Yeah, big crowd this year. Fastest in my club (albeit a bunch of triathlozengers), so pleased with that.
-
• #12094
No inner ring, no front derailler. High risk high reward? Not worth it - I'll either bodge a chain catcher for it or fit the DA rings I bought and put the derailler back on.
Reckon those velotoze will work with midfoot cleats? My current overshoes are going to give up at the stitching soon so it'd be nice to have an easy to get replacement option.

Shit happens. I've used it before so I knew it was a risk.
I'd much rather it happen on a H course than after driving 4hrs to Hull.

Get a narrow wide chairing and stop worrying about chain retention. I have a 50t one and will probably pick up a 54 or 56 at some point for flat TTs.
Just using a regular di2 rear mech, no clutch. Same setup minus di2 and a 38t instead that I have been racing cx with. The only time I dropped a chain was when I managed to wedge a couple of kilos of mud into the drivetrain.

That's our one. I'll be marshalling, shouting out finishers' numbers, or pouring tea.

• #12099
What range cassette are you running?
And what about aero shoes vs covers on non-aero shoes?

V718 for me today, 19:52 off 117". Was off super early so less traffic and lots of wind than the guys starting 2hrs later (all the women were sent off early too which was a bit harsh) but I don't mind really as we had a nice day out in York after.
I've decided that headwind return legs make the V718 only as quick as local courses for me on fixed! As there's nearly a 10kph swing in speed out/return so it's a real grind.
Yeah but you could also get a still day that has the wind pick up or you might finish an event going off early and the later riders don't get a ride because of an accident or something (I'm thinking of when Wilko was going to set the fastest BBAR and all his 100s were ended early because of stuff like planes being towed, crashes, etc).
