  • @Wilo Oh well, got my entry in and i'll take my chances, my wife is due to give birth on the 16th June so if i didn't get in it wouldn't be the end of the world.

  • @Willo, saw you race at Palace on Tuesday after Mrs S. kindly pointed you out. Good work fella.

"Kindly" would be a euphamism! Amongst all those whippets, I'm not exactly hard to spot, toiling away at the back, again, and in pain.

  • I rode the TT bike out at Hillingdon last night and did a PB fairly easily (it's about time that aero cheating paid off!). Lost count again and did 12 laps instead of 11 so still had plenty of juice. Need to work a lot on cornering when on the aerobars with no brakes in reach.

  • The only time I ever beat Mrs S on a bike was at Hillingdon in a duathlon when I lost count of my laps... (and they didn't have the transponder chips).

  • The transponder chips don't tell you to stop riding..

I had a look at the PT data afterwards and there were 12 laps on it. I THOUGHT I'd done extra but would rather do more than less and it's all just training anyway so fuck it. :)

  • Yup - but they do tell the organisers if you've only done 9 laps ;-)

  • I rode the TT bike out at Hillingdon last night and did a PB fairly easily (it's about time that aero cheating paid off!).

    What is your PB?

  • Yeah hippy, what's your PB?

My brother PBed at the Catford Open 10 last weekend. In the game I think it's called a low 25.

  • Short 25. :-)

  • For Hillingdon it's 25:41.
I even did an extra lap just to make sure*.

Faster guys are doing 23s. I wonder what Tony Gibb did? He won the last one and went past me at some pace.

    *I can't count.

  • I'm sure Ray Eden did a long (or even short) 21 at Eastway, so Hillingdon would have to be a bit quicker than that...?

  • I dunno. I'm not sure what the record is but last week's fastest time was a 23:57. Never rode Eastway so can't comment.

  • Nice bowling Warney, I will be there to shout at you soon enough

  • I dunno. I'm not sure what the record is but last week's fastest time was a 23:57. Never rode Eastway so can't comment.

At Eastway, I never managed better than a long 24 on 81" fixed (without tribars - tried them, but not practised enough to manage them on such a technical circuit).

But I'm shit at TTing, and usually did short 26s. Being able to blast up Oxo (the main climb) and recover quickly was my secret weapon there. The proper testers would then fly past me in their aero tucks on the back straight doing closer to 40mph whilst I limped along at 32 or something.

  • RPM, I wasn't sure I could escape on Wed but my boss is nice and she let me disappear with enough time to get to Hillingdon. I think taking a minute off that time would be fairly easy for me. I'd raced a few people on the ride home, was just wearing normal kit and most of all slowed right down for the sweeper since I don't quite feel comfortable cornering brakless freewheel (on aerobars) yet. I also had no pacing strategy and lost count of my laps and had plenty left for an extra one. Whoops. :) Hillingdon '10' is a bit more than 10mi too. It's 11 laps.

I should have just posted this brief TT report

Tony Gibb won the other night with 22:45.

  • @Hippy Good Work on a nasty day

  • I thought you were meant to go faster in the wet?

Joke. Well done for riding, it's horrible out there.

  • I should've stayed in bed. :S

andy: I go faster underwater.. it just wasn't wet enough..

    Simon's report..

  • Beacon RC Mini Mountain for me today (Worcestershire/Herefordshire borders) riding the roadbike - 39 miles, 2 hours 8 mins, 268 watts. One truly aweful 17% hill after 33 miles. Legs are totally rubbish now.

Mrs S started 20 minutes behind me and won the womens; I thought she might come past me, but I managed to hold her off. RESULT.

  • That's a tough event, well done. Did Ruth Eyles ride or was she busy with organising duties?

  • Ruth was organising - she rode in the Di Cooke Memorial 10 up near Nuneaton yesterday and was 3rd woman, behind Michelle King and Mrs S.

  • How come you're not drenched? No fair!
