  • ^ have you considered letting jesus into your heart?

  • I knew a person who died once

  • *sorry. a girl died. yes, its not nice. but i steered well clear of spitting on her grave - i was merely taking a huge shit on her living career.

yes, well done, very good, you've impressed us all with your passion and authenticity, how on earth could we have not genuflected before the altar of your ego.

That Jesus was rubbish - I've read all his books. I don't know why you lot bang on about him dying every easter. Haile Selassie was a true prophet but you lot wouldn't know about that cos you haven't read books like wot I have

    am I doing this right?

Do any of you have anything to be passionate about?
    Do you have any sincerity?
Do any of you have any conviction in your thoughts/beliefs?
Don't you realise that your meager 'comebacks' and insults don't have any weight - you completely prove my thoughts on every post. Lacklustre and passive.

I'd love to know what gets you guys engaged on a deeper level. what gets your pulse ticking?

sorry. a girl died. yes, its not nice. but i steered well clear of spitting on her grave - i was merely taking a huge shit on her living career.

all i was saying is that you can't deny her talent, she has/had talent unlike many other contemporary who where marketed like her (paloma faith. duffy. adele etc)

i look at it like this, the 27 club as it where, Kurt Cobain. massive drug user. followed buy the media for story. 'troubled artist' etc. now he died and was immortalized as a music god. was it because his music wasn't mainstream that its ok to say he was talented? where as winehouse with her popularity is only pop star junky? I've never ownd a Winehouse album but have everything Nirvana did. I can apreciate a talent when i see it.

another way to look at this is Jim Morrison. My mum bought all the doors albums when they where current, she bought the amy winehouse albums now. both singer songwriters. so is she equal to Jim as a good artist? or cos my mum now bought her cd's Jims equal to Amy as a drugged up pop hack?

i'm finding it hard to word what i want to say but hopefully it comes across.

as for what i'm passionate about, i'm not going into it, no matter what i said, music, furniture, graphics, bikes, cars, etc etc you'll pick it apart to sure up your own beliefs that your somehow above others for your 'incites' into my suposed sheep mentality.

you're being too passionate at being a twat, go and ride your bike.

    • how on earth could we have not genuflected before the altar of your ego[I].

its not ego. i'm far from special. i don't consider myself anything important. but sometimes i wonder why being passionate about something 9-times-out-of-10 just makes you look like a dick.

do you know how disturbing it is to be told "give less of a fuck", "don't try so hard", "stop thinking so much", "just roll with it", "don't aim so high" etc.

I know very little about sculpture, about surfing, about flower arranging, about tree management, about global finance strategies, about farmville, about Vauxhall Mechanic Codes Of Conduct, about the life of Dame Judy Dench, about leather tanning, about geology.......but i have my opinion.
If anyone has any true depth to any of these things, i'd love to hear it. I'd love to know, on a deep level , the good, the bad and the ugly. i wouldn't shoot them down because i didn't agree with them. Experience trumps opinion.

See Graeme, this is a conversation. This is a much better reply than "Hauska, you're a dick" because at least there is some substance

im sorry, i don't mean to personally get on your back. you say that you don't want to go into what you are passionate about. thats fine. but, now maybe you understand what made me say something.....what if i was being passive-agressive about the thing that you adore?

i dont argue for the sake of it. i don't argue in real life. i do, however, step up when i feel and see a whole bunch of misplaced astonishment going on.

I like big posies of geraniums

  • i wish i knew about surfing.

  • i like balki, please don't shit on him

well no i don't understand what made you say what you did, you said someone was a scum-cunt. that's pretty harsh, what was the basis of this? your perception of someone based on the news? argueing badly that she dosn't deserve the praise her music was getting

i tell you this much i was at my mums hotel just now. they played amys version of Valarie, now i can happily listen to that. but i bought the zutons album back when it arrive and i haven't listed to it since. its crap.

i don't want to get onto what i'm passionate about cos its derides the discussion/argument

i wouldn't shoot them down because i didn't agree with them.

so you do step up? or you don't? it seems you do shout your opinion when you think your right.

  • ...bla...bla...ego...anyone of my posts...

it's not venom. it's a rounded opinion not clouded by the misplaced grief and regret exhibited by people whom on their death Amy wouldn't have given a toss about.

MrSmyth - you've made some fair points, but I think (like a lot of people), you're missing the point. Loss is a very personal thing.

One of our clients was killed in the Moscow Airport Bombing. Before we found out, I had no personal involvement with any of the victims. I didn't know the guy, but my boss did, he also knew his wife, his kids names, some of his colleagues etc. There is no logical reason for me to feel any more for his family than anyone else who died. But I did.

It's about connection, which is a personal thing. I'll never understand the Princes Di thing, I feel sorry for her kids, but have no sense of loss. That's because I had zero connection with her.

If you're touched by someone's music, and you feel connected, then it's likely that you'll feel a loss.

Either way two things are certain; first, it's sad when anyone dies; and second, Hauska is an absolute cunt.

  • Why is everyone so angry?

  • Fuck off!

  • Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance.

  • so you do step up? or you don't? it seems you do shout your opinion when you think your right.

Of course i do, doesn't everyone? And if someone disagrees with me, fair enough. I'd like to have a conversation about it. But i don't want to give my all/reasoning/experience/understanding and the counter argument go along the lines of "no, you're a dick".

Scum-cunt was harsh, agreed.....that was my only knee-jerk thought so far.

  • it's sad when anyone dies

    Even Hitler?

  • Repped.

  • Well, he did do a lot for childhood obesity.

  • Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance, dark side

    fkd

  • Even Hitler?

    prob even hitler.

he was a artist who died of a drug overdose right?

  • Of course i do, doesn't everyone? And if someone disagrees with me, fair enough. I'd like to have a conversation about it. But i don't want to give my all/reasoning/experience/understanding and the counter argument go along the lines of "no, you're a dick".

exactly everyone dose, but there is a difference between 'your wrong and i'll tell you why' and 'i'm gonna have to disagree with you because...' thats something i don't think you know the difference between.

and from how i and probably many others viewed it, all your posts in this thread where knee-jerk

  • Ah, it's always good to come to LFGSS to obtain the correct set of opinions on celebrity deaths.

We always think we have to have a really personal reaction to them, but actually we don't. That applies to indifference as well as to vitriolic hatred and to fandom.

You can really only react with platitudes--'every death of a young person is tragic', etc.--all true, but there is just no meaningful relationship that would make any other reaction very interesting.

Mixing up a critical assessment of their work with a reaction to their death is a pretty pointless thing to do, too. Their work hasn't died. Carry on listening to it if you want to, or avoid it like you always have, and just let her rest in peace.
