  • Get cycle fitted in London and send them your measurements by email/fax.

    I'm pretty sure that's how Dancing James went about getting his Ti Serotta (sic) made.

  • If you have any possibility of getting a bike custom fitted, take it with both hands. Trust me on this :-)

  • Man, this thread is making me impatient. I ordered my Bob four weeks ago with a lead time of six weeks.

  • dude, i bought mine second hand mint, perfect measurements for me, was very fortunate, more than one month ago and it's just gonna get built up this weekend!!!! but it's gonna be worth it

  • jealous, this one was being run as an 80" sweet as a nut,

    don't worry, it took me over 2 months for mine to arrived and it will be worth it, you're more fortunate than my father who have to wait even longer for the Audax frame!

    not worth the trouble that my missus made thought.

    Careful she don't read that Ed!

  • It seems with an inner leg of 34" the frame size would be 23" (with 22.75" top tube). It sounds quite a bit bigger than my size 56 IRO Mark V, but I guess it's nothing too major.

    But with a frame of that size the tubing will be oversized. What does that mean? I guess the tubing won't be too fat, but I am thinking of choosing a size 22.5" frame, even though it's not what they suggested. I believe it's better for the frame to be a bit smaller than too big. And the tubing wouldn't then be oversized...

  • The tubing might be thicker (smaller internal diameter, same external diameter) or it might be larger in diameter (larger internal diameter, larger external diameter). It's worth asking. One of the attractive qualities of a nice steel frame is the tubing.

  • I've seen pictures at velospace an on flickr of vigorellis that are huge -- 58s, 62s or whatever they'd be in inches. the tubing looks just fine. I dont think the over size is something noticeable.

    I do recommend ordering what paul recommends -- he knows what he's talking about. If you measured yourself accurately, get what he says.

  • Any bike shop will fit a threaded headset and cut the steerer if needs be.

    Campag (Record), Shimano (105/Ultegra), Tange all make 1" headsets, although they're not as common as they used to be.

    Just worried about the aesthetics as some frames just don't look that nice when small and others when tall, IMHO.

  • small frame still look fine.

  • Yes, yes it does. Just not sure about the tall ones.

    One more thing: I've seen different forks on BJ Vigorellis. For example the ones on Ed's BJ have different curve than the ones on the light blue "Super Vigorelli".

  • Yes.

  • yep, it also have different track end, and a dimped seatpost, it's those custom bob.

    Okay. That figures.

    Um, does anyone have a pic of BJ Vigorelli in size 23"? I think I saw one somewhere, but I didn't like the looks of it that much. Gangly, it was.

  • Here's a photo of a 21.5". Now imagine it 1.5" bigger and... bingo

    :-)

  • really tall Bob Jackson with big tyres (frame's 60cm I think);

    Jonny's mate bike, aka the Slob Jackson;

    the size 23" look fine really, just go for it, you'll better off riding a bike that fit you nicely than going down half an inch for appearance sake.

  • +1,000

    You'll look stupid if you've paid £big for a bike and it doesn't even fit you!

    That is true. 23" just sounds so big. Pisses me off no end I'm not able to ride one before ordering. The top tube is more than 2 centimeters longer than on my IRO, which I think fits me quite nicely. And yes, I can alway play around with stems, but still. Guess I am just a big pussy.

    The geometry of Vigorellis is not available online, is it?

  • my condor was redone by bob jackson and it's one of the worst paint jobs i have seen, patchy, pitting marks, chipped in one place from storage.. actual unpainted section on the stem i had done! sadly i am not the type to kick off and didnt inspect it closely until i got it home

    (after i had paid)

    and the colour was darker than the swatch they showed me.

    argos next time! 30quid more + postage but tried and tested.

    that has to be a lot bigger than a 60!! looks like a 64 or bigger to me? my 62 looks no-where near as gangly

  • Okay, the one in the pic is 60cm c-t (which is about 23.5", I think). And yes, it does look fucking sweet.

    BTW where do people buy their BJs as the size is usually listed in centimeters?
