Talk to Paul at BJ. How big is 23" in metric?
I told the factory I get on well with 54cm traditional geometry bikes and I was recommended a 21.5".
I find the top tube is about 1cm longer than I'd have gone for if I'd had it custom built, otherwise perfect. I'm running an 80mm stem to sort that out and it's great. They ride very smoothly, and although it doesn't steer as quickly as my Fuji, it's well suited to all day riding.

BTW where do people buy their BJs as the size is usually listed in centimeters?
The factory who talk inches, tea, ale, pies and none of that foreign muck!

23" is 58.5 in centimeters.
Do BJ measure the seat tube c-c or c-t? I'd like to know the SO, too. Like I said, I believe Paul knows his stuff, but I'd sure like to see the geo at least on paper before making the decision of buying.
For example, you told him you do fine on a 54 (21.25") and he suggested 21.5". I told him I ride a 56 (22") and he said my size would be 23". There's a difference, there.

Yeh, agreed.
Definitely have this conversation with him though. I got a fairly complete set of measurements for the geometry in an email from him on request. Perhaps ask for the measurements for 22", 22.5 and 23" (or sizes they build in that range).

my only advice is to simply get used to the look of a tall bike, I used to dislike tall bike and prefer to have a 21.5" frame instead of 22.5/23, but now seeing a lots of tall bike, I end up liking them even more, like this one;

if you build it up nicely (i.e. no bullhorn bar with tape thicker than the frame in bizarre colour), it would look great.

eyebrows;
That was like a 57cm.
And I kinda miss it. Such nice bikes. -

I prefer the look of a tall bike (might a case of the grass being greener though). If you look at my 20" BJ the wheels look too big, and the bars and saddle look to be inbetween the wheels instead on on top of them. Plus even with shallow drops the bars down by the top of the wheel. TBH though, I'd sacrifice looks for fit any day.

Yes, well, it's really no longer a question of whether or not it'd look good. I am waiting for Paul to get back to me with the stand over height of a 23" frame. If it is 32" or close to that, I am fine, but it is more than that, I don't feel comfortable. My Mark V has 31" SO, which is nice. Wouldn't want it much taller.
And yes: I do keep bringing up the IRO, but it is my first fixed gear and although the stem could be a bit shorter, it feels good.

Does the IRO have a higher BB?

Does the IRO have a higher BB?
The BB drop is only 5 centimeters (judging by the info available from IRO's site), which, I believe, makes it quite high.
Someone might want to correct me, here?

If you want a good comparisson of a small bike next to a large one, try and find the pic of my old IRO next to VB's Bob Jackson on the second bridges ride. Fair bit of difference!

good advice: http://absenter.org/2006/12/18/ordering-a-bob-jackson
*I’ve had the frame for nearly a year with no issues. It’s been my favourite bike I’ve owned to date. Since the Vigorelli is a grass track frame, the bottom bracket is higher than even standard track frames for extra clearance and so you may find the standover height a little taller than you’re used to. To me, I find this to be perfect since I ride the bike primarily for comfort, training and long distance and therefore a frame as such is so very comfortable. *
*While the standover might dissuade you from ordering your size, don’t let it. Order the size you are and revel in the joy that is to me, the best fit frame I’ve had yet.*
Just order what fits you & dont worry about the SO height - it's not an issue. What you should be concerned about is a proper fit - dont compromise for aesthetics or paranoia about SO height. Get the proper TT/ST length and everything will be fine. Go with what Paul recommends - you will not regret it.
and dont get celeste cosmos - everyone has that...or pearl white. I've seen the Verde Aqua before -- it's gorgeous.
It's a 64.
