    I'm out too.

    Main reason I signed up is that i like eating breakfast. So, anyone fancy meeting in the morning for a marathon fry up instead?

    If we do get told to piss off I'm pretty sure a greasy spoon will be the first place we go..

    I'm probably going to have a spin round some of the course on my own to avoid the problems that some have mentioned... stewards, accidents etc [/loner]

    I would however, be up for a (booze-fuelled night) ride round the route the week after dressed in ironic running atire.

    OK, I'm out, then. I reckon the best thing to do is for as many people as possible to pull out again to leave those who really want to do it, and it's not as if I don't have other things planned that day (Cycling Club Hackney's 'Round Chelmsford' ride later on: http://www.londonfgss.com/thread19832.html)

    (Although there is the bail-out option to Chelmsford roughly halfway through the ride.)

    As a newbie seems only fair that I fall on my sword too.

    Perhaps there is another way of doing something similar that would work with a big group, like rolling round the course as soon as the roads reopen while the crowds are still milling around, or a night ride round the course the night before.

    The whole point of this ride is that it's one of the few times of the year that some of the major roads in London are closed off. So NO cars, NO pedestrians, NO traffic lights, NO stopping!

    Riding round the night before or after the marathon is pointless... do it any other day of the year.

    If lots of people want do do this ride, you need to set off in small groups, no more that 8 or 10 people. And best to do it fast! So that cops don't have time to stop you, and also because you can.

    Yeah, I know, it's not the same, just thinking of ways it could be more inclusive.

    I'm thinking even with small groups if there are more than just a couple of small groups it'll get noticed and it wouldn't take much for the police and stewards to get on their radios and shut it down.

    Good luck to those who go tho, got to be worth a try no matter what happens.

    What's the worst that can happen?

    The Police ask you to go the other side of the barrier? No great shakes really, is it?

    Everyone who wants to ride it should just rock up and ride it, the more of you there are the more it will look like an organised event and the Police will just watch you roll by. My opinion.
