All the home brew kits I've seen use plastic. I've no idea if it's for cost, convenience or anything else. They were only ever used to make uber sweet, alcoholic party pop. Leg Opener Lager, Devil's Draught, etc. Ah, those were the days.. bathtubs full of stubbies..

i thought it was all about brewing in steel / glass? plastic would taint the brew?
