  • Siren and Magic Rocks collaboration MRS Brown. Just wow.

  • I think it's Jacks on Stroud Green Road. Never been myself but @dom told me good things about it.

Went to Bottledog earlier in the week, got my growler filled with gamma ray and grabbed a Stone smoked porter. Cracked them both tonight. It's been good.

  • Got me an A,B,S appreciation cap:

  • Kinda wish I wasn't driving.

  • Went to Weird Beard open day briefly to pick up their Sadako bottles. Also nabbed a Brodmance collob and tried their BA Blueberry saison which was less tart than most saisons I've tried recently and better for it. #sweettoof

  • Yes. Both excellent those. Did you go for a plain Sadako or barrel-aged? I went for Jim Beam. The Brodie's collaboration is possibly my favourite.

  • Both Sadakos, as well as the Brodmance.

  • Ealing Beer Festival starts this Wed:

Just the preparation I need for the 24...

  • I'm going to be there for a few days. Should be great.

  • It will take a few days to work through the 350-odd beers..

  • Aiming to try:

    Great Heck - Shankar
    Harvey's - Best Bitter
    Titanic - Plum Porter
Weird Bear - All Of Them
Windsor & Eton - Conqueror Black IPA
De Molen - All Of Them

Only Belgian I'm familiar with is Rochefort 10. I'm not a massive fan of the Belgian yeast taste, but like the heavier ones which are more stewed tasting.

  • Where'd you see the De Molen?

Oh shit, I was just looking at the Ale list. Fuck me.

Makes my liver wish I was a cider drinker.

  • Any Belgian recommendations? I don't really know much about them (partly because I'm not actually into the yeasty tasting stuff).

  • I'll need to have a look at the list and get back to you.

    Every week until 7th Aug.

Anyone been? Thinking of popping by on Fri

  • Tried Firestone - Wookey Jack black IPA in Brewdog Shepherds Bush yesterday. Pretty intense. It generally gets a very high rating, so I though it was a must-try. Also had a Stone Ruination II which was tasty and quite caramel-y. Not the best thing to have a lunchtime before going back to work though.

  • That's exactly the kind of shit that makes lunch fun. I should head to the Shoreditch one...

  • I forgot to add that I also had a Siren - Liquid Mistress in the Sindercombe Cluterfuck across the road beforehand. Fell asleep when I got back.

  • That's the best bit! Sweet, sweet and yeasty, sweet and boozy..

I've had a look. They have a few honey beers and fruit beers which are usually sweet and more tart than your big heavy ales. The tripels are quite often 'cleaner' and have less of a yeast hit, more of a sharper alcohol taste, often sweeter so they'll be quite nice in the sun sun sun... until you pass out obviously. Try the gueze or the krieks too - not a huge fan myself, often too tart but the higher abv krieks are really nice.

There's quite a lot in that list I've never had before but if I get stuck into them, I'll be caned and I usually like to go 1/3rds of ales because I get to try more. I'll probably have a look and see if they do them takeaway for any of the more interesting ones I've not tried.

They got a couple of stouts in the list too which could be worth a try

  • In a bar in Reykjavik having a tasting flight of:

    Borg Solveig Hefeweizen
    Borg Leifur Nordic Saison
    Borg Mykvi Porter
    Mikeller Mosaic
    To ol Reperation
Mikeller Brunch weasel (made using civet cat shitted coffee beans)

Have also had an arctic thyme saison which was beautiful

  • Er so Brunch Weasel is amazing. Shame my heart can't take caffeine. Simon has taken it away "for my own safety".

  • I wondered where you were getting those in..

  • Anyone tried of First Chop Brewing Arm's beers?

  • No, but I will. Bring. now. beer. me. here. do. it.

  • That saison was really good. And I get 20% staff discount as a spouse of M&S employee.
