If you did travel North for that one it's £1 a pint cheaper in Manc.

Mikkeller 1000 IBUs barley wine in King William The 4th. Lovely. Like a toffee biscuit.

and there's a velodrome

I had some 1000 IBM stuff once, nearly turned my face inside-out.

Weird thing about this barley wine is that it's so rich tasting that the bitterness isn't hugely obvious.
-
• #3157
Good man. It's something special isn't it?
-
• #3158
Yup. Well worth trying, ta again for the tip.

Tesco's beer section had some stuff I'd not tried before so...

Had the Guinness Indian Porter last night. It's ok. Not amazing.
Sharp's Red and Atlantic ales are flavoursome, though the heavy carbonation makes them feel a bit lagery. Very clean mouthfeel. Feels a bit like mineral water if that makes sense.

• #3161
Yeah drinking Atlantic now. I get what you mean. Quite nice it is.

Their Honey Spiced IPA is worth trying, but apparently far better on draft.

Fullers Traitors Gate was nice earlier on. Nice strawberry-ish taste and toffee-ish malt.
-
• #3164
(Surprising as I'm not massive on Fullers ales).

Oakhams Ales from Peterborough. Inferno - unbelievably good.
Warming in winter, refreshing in summer. I've not found better.
Worth a try in a good pub who treat it well. The best I've had was at the Sir William Peel in Sandy. Also available at the Oaka in 48 Kennington Park Road SE11
Do yourself a favour and try it - masterpiece! If they have Citra on tap, try that too! A really unique hop with citrussy zing.
-
• #3166
Yeah I've run through all the taps at Oaka before. A mate lived nearby. I don't remember inferno so grabbed the bottle above. Citra is good.
-
• #3167
Actually I've just checked untappd and I have had the Inferno before at Oaka. It was a year and about 1000 beers ago though so you'll have to excuse my memory.

Need bigger pic but is that my kitchen cupboard, 3rd from left?
-
• #3172
The open day? There were quite a few people there in a small space. They had Faceless Spreadsheet, Decadence stout, Marianna Trench and Holy Hoppin Hell on and a lot of bottles to buy. Everything was discounted and they were raisign some money for the that girl that was killed near the canal - her music school or something. Brewers were there and you could ask 'em stuff but gf and I just plopped onto some crates and drank.

So how do you guys feel about affligem?
-
• #3175
Not on a first date, but I'm down after that.
Sounds good. I'm gonna get more stouts into my system this xmas. Like the big Mikkeller stuff but have gone off coffee stouts.
