I went to the Pig's Ear last night. It's still on tonight if you want to go. For some reason I'd never managed to get to a beer festival before, so having it just down the road was a good opportunity. Unfortunately, the documentation of which beers were vegan was pretty poor. Some of my friends were among the (volunteer) bar staff and tried to help me out but there didn't seem to be any information available, so they were only able to point me towards unfined beers. I didn't mind, as I like unfined beer. I have to stress that it still struck me as a great event, with lots of volunteer dedication, and I'll probably go again next year. They've promised to provide better info about the vegan beers on offer next time.
The first two selections weren't really to my taste. Pitfield's Wheat Christmas had cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg in it, which didn't win me over. It was entirely my own fault for not reading about it in the festival booklet and not asking for a quick taste, though. Lesson learned. I'd gone for half pints, so it wasn't too bad. I can't remember the name of the pale ale I had in that round, but I didn't like it that much, either. Then I had a half of Kubla, another unfined pale ale, which was OK, and a half of Holy Mole (Bexar County). That was a very nice beer, I thought, and I had a whole pint of it to finish off the evening. A very unusual taste. You can read a couple of intricate descriptions of the flavour here. I only managed three pints in total as I spent most of the time chatting. Would go again.

Thanks. Love BBN beers.
Regarding that Morrisons haul, the DNA is actually quite nice. I think it's an imported wort mix which is brewed and hopped in the UK.

Yeah, it's DogFishHead and Wells. I've had it on draught a couple of times.

You can't buy it in pints. If I said £4 for a glass of wine would you be so dismissive?

Were these all half pints or paper sample cups?
If the former I'll have to extend my credit card and get a large piss collector for you to stand in; if the latter I can breathe a sigh of relief into my tena pants..

Thirds and Halfs as the aim was to taste as many as possible and still make it home.

I did forget to leave with some bottles though. Doh!

Wowzers, delicious. They only go as small as halves so the next hour or so might be tricky...
edit also available in bottles, theres a 125 Barley Wine as well.

Maybe try the Brew By Numbers offerings. They might just be fruity enough to suit your taste. They're some of my favourites and I don't do much saison
