Here's my Bottle Royale - Chocolate Stout reviewed by me - http://rumandreviews.com/2013/01/31/chocolate-stout/

Nice review - have you tried Moor's Old Freddy Walker? Not a stout exactly, but an incredibly smooth and chocolately treat, without a hint of the medicinal edge you might expect at 7.3%.

Not tried it, but it's going straight onto my 'to drink' list.
Apparently Brooklyn have just released a Black Chocolate Stout at 10% - I'm a bit nervous, but in the name of research...

It's getting the funding for research that's the problem.

Finally had a check of all my brewing kit the other night, it seems I did clean it out and it's all in good nick. I will be making a beer again soon. The keg still had beer dregs in from 3 years ago, I was drunk and tried some, it was foul, I didn't swallow as it was likely to kill me.

^Try the brupaks Yorkshire ale kits. They're the best IMO. I'd strongly recommend the linthwaite light. beware of the kits that want you to add sugar, sugar doesn't belong in beer. If you want to up the abv add more malt extract. Better still invest in a boiler and mash run and brew from scratch. Have fun and I'm looking forward to a sample :)

I have all the boilers, mash tun and the rest, I was just surprised they were still looking good.

Any suggestions for a decent pub within easy cycling of the Gants hill area? My company has put me in a travel lodge for 2 weeks and I'll probably go out of my mind if I don't get out.
Oh snap.
Sorry, I don't know anywhere around there. I regularly drive/ride through Gants Hill but, never been to the pub there. I imagine there's a half decent boozer somewhere round there but I'd say your best bet is to ride the 5 or so miles to East London.
Marble brewery in Manc is fucking sweet. Had a few of the ginger and chocolate beers and had lunch in one of the Marble pubs a few times.

Also someone posted Mad Goose a while back. Recommend that! It's delightfully drinkable.

The marble brewery IMO are one of the finest in the country. They sent six of their range to a beer festival in Holmfirth in the spring and everyone agreed they were the best. My favourite is the lagonda.

There is a Marble bar about 400m away. Been there about 3 times in the last 2 years.

Slight derail... What's your favourite adverts from the lager years? Here's mine, had me in tears of laughter back then - was groundbreaking in it's time!
