Is there any good reason why a Force 22 crankset wouldn't play nicely with a 10spd Force/Red mix? Front mech angles are all I can think of.

The 105 level "aero" (direct mount) brakes have been out for a while, I'm sure they're aimed at OEM on entry level Tri bikes.

ten- and 11-speed should not be mixed. Our 22 groups actually have the chainrings slightly farther apart than our 10-speed groups, in order to ensure that all cogs can be safely reached in the small ring, and the chain and front derailleur are specifically designed to work with that gap. Running a 10-speed chain on 11-speed rings or an 11-speed chain on 10-speed rings could cause chain jams or derailments.

That would require the UCI to legalise discs for road racing first. Which will happen at some point, but no one quite knows when.

I know, Ed. I read it this morning. But what is still unclear is a) if the decision is going to be yes and b) if it is, when will they start allowing discs to be used. There are huge implications for road racing that need to be considered, i.e. do you allow discs and rim brakes in the same peloton? Would that be safe?

Have rim brakes got a lot worse since the 1970s, because I could lift the back wheel with a firm handful of Weinmann 730 back then and the laws of physics haven't changed, so that's still as much braking as you can possibly have on a bicycle. The idea that riders with rim brakes are going to be running into the back of their disc-equipped colleagues is a red herring thrown up by retro-grouches. Of course, when road races routinely involve pile-ups, all those square-edged 2mm thick steel discs are a safety issue which which nobody in the slower and more spaced out MTB and CX fields has to deal with.

I didn't make that point though, I was thinking more about the crashing aspect.
