holy shit just remembered as I was running today I saw someone go past on one of these...
paired with his glorious nodders outfit I couldn't help but feel like I'd met the king of bikeradar.
I smiled at him as he went past and got a sneer in return, he was possibly feeling a little self conscious perhaps.
Artists Rendition:
saw one the other day. a bit in disbelief

Back at work today and it seems that all the runners have fucked their ankles over xmas - clearly the injury du jour. My ankle is still swollen and has turned a little bit blue but I think the swelling has gone down a little (which is good as yesterday it looked quite disconcerting and I was being urged to go to A&E) and it hurts less too. Phew.
On a completely unrelated note, does anyone fancy a new years day run?

Pushing you in a wheelbarrow?
-
• #7033
Ha! No, I reckon I'll be fine to run on it then, given that I can walk on it today. However, if you had a wheelbarrow, I'd accept a lift.

Hill repeats of Canonbie?

^ Tempting as that is, no. I'm going to try to figure out a route that involves New Year's Lane in Kent.

You didn't run to Oxford on the 25th did you? Another good hill there ...

Managed 5k and 20k in France over the last few days. Was wonderful running through glorious countryside with Liz tailing me on the bike for moral support in the pissing rain.
Wore my osprey pack for the 20k, hardly drank any of the 1l of water I put in it but it was comfy and handy for stuffing my waterproof in when I got too hot despite the drizzle.5k today felt horrible though and ache all over..

• #7039
I've still got 5k to do when I get home then I am finished with the years silly challenges.

Started off 2014 with an extracurricular Finsbury Parkrun at 9am.
Was slow, and didn't even have the excuse of a hangover.

Sole of my foot really hurts this morning. Ankle felt tight yesterday so think my form went all wobbly to compensate and now I'm all achey across the ball/mid foot. Got a slow 6miles to do today so padded socks and lots of ankle stretches beforehand...

Where is the cheapest place to buy a Nike Shield Flash jacket?
Best I've found so far is £211 at Wiggle: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/nike-shield-flash-jacket-ho13/

My local sports direct has the karrimor version which imo looks a bit nicer than the nike one for £45.
http://www.sportsdirect.com/karrimor-x-lite-reflective-jacket-mens-452004I nearly bought it yesterday but didn't notice how much it was reduced to.
Not gonna run today, cut losses and not risk making it worse, try tomorrow and save myself for half marathon distance on the weekend..

• #7044
It's certainly a lot cheaper, has anyone compared both in reality?
-
• #7045
Do you need it?

The real world comparison? I feel that they help to make an informed decision.

The £200 jacket. I think I ended up wearing my Nike thingy 3 times last year. I'm glad I only paid £40 for it.

Sign up for the newsletter to get a £5 voucher and use Quidco for cashback if using Wiggle by the way.

Only in XXL on Wiggle? How many mince pies have you eaten dammit?
Would the flash vest not be a better compromise?

Thought fuck it and went and bought the karrimor jacket to make me feel better about having a sore foot.
First impressions are relatively meh. The sleeves are really long in all sizes, not really an issue but seems odd. I'm a medium in everything ever but it feels a little tight across the shoulders. Fine for running but would be really annoying on the bike I reckon.
In terms of waterproofiness it looks better than my super thin nike cyclone jacket(which is basically useless in anything more than the lightest of drizzle) but no where near as hefty as my Marmot waterproof. Which is kinda what I wanted really.
Reflective panels seem pretty solid, black panels are much thinner, more like kite material. It's £45, wasn't expecting miracles but would have felt cheated if I'd paid full price. A quick experiment with a bike light inside shows it's VERY reflective...
Well done for getting out!
