Was running with a Kenyan, he destroyed me (obv), and did it in sandals.

Newsflash: eyebrows is Rambo.
Seriously though, I cant imagine being anywhere more beautiful than that. The air must be amazing.

I did my back in a weekend or 2 ago (putting my leg over my bikes crossbar embarrassingly enough!), it still twinges, should I run or not?

could be good with a gentle run to get your blood flowing, muscles moving and generally losen things up?
-

Ran. First five minutes were unpleasant but then the endorphins kicked in and the pain stopped.
Doesn't feel any better or worse now, so at least not made it worse!

Ran across the wooded hilltop behind my house last night. Weirdly I havent done this since last winter. Proper off-rod running with greasy bare rock, peat bogs, and shite loads of exposed tree roots. We had some bad hurricanes during winter, so the running was frequently interupted with some climbing over or under fallen pines.
So fecking tiring. So much fun.
Feeling it today.

The joys of an early morning run at 0615. Once my body had woken up it wasn't too bad. I might attempt it tomorrow morning. An easy 3 miler.

Had a nice run with the two girls from work, as karma for my superior sounding comments last time they have both got a lot fitter... The gasper still sounds like a rapist and had to 'tie her hair up' at one point, but they both raced me over the last hundred meters.
I predict them both leaving me in their dust in two weeks!

Ran up and down the common with holly (dog) off the lead this evening, she spent the whole time 1 pace back, felt like running with my own wolf pack. Awesome!
-

That sounds great Ed- one of the reasons to own a dog.
Reckon I'd be ok to start running again as soon as the swelling in my foot goes down?

I'm at Race the Train once again, haven't trained, 10k race tomorrow morning looks appealing on a late entry. It could get messy/hurt.

I'm looking after nellie (dog) this week. Went for a run on the heath this morning and she was always ahead of me, carrying a stick as usual. Even worse was that most of the time she was trotting, barely having to break into a run. Not bad for a twelve year old collie.

I'm really missing my bike this week as I'm on holiday. Been beach running instead. Normally I hate running but the lack of alternatives has focused my mind and I stuck it out to manage 10k this morning.
Really chuffed - even if Strava fucked up and missed this historic moment for me. It may not happen again.
6 days left of holiday though... -

Doing Midnight Man tonight - ironman with the added twist of starting in the evening and going through the night. I'm going to try it on my fixie, so no idea what state the legs will be in by the time we get to the mara - probably still be running this time tomorrow.
Should be sleeping right now - just too fucking hot.

^ meanwhile, i'm off for a kip in the park. Enjoy your night, good luck!

Fess up, did you? What time?
-
• #3668
^ yeah, 4 mins slower than last year, 40th place of 290 ish in the morning 10km.
First year in living memory the afternoon race was proper sunny, 14 miles just looks too far these days [/wimp]
Curry, cider, campervan now.

p.s. worked out I'd ran just 5 times since last years race. Mojo where?

Just went for a run in the wonderful heat. It was great, sweated loads but didn't get out of breath and the heat felt rally good in the muscles.
-
• #3671
Getting times you're used to is pretty hard in this heat, everything to stay in shady places hydrated seems worth it to me.
Earnt your cider eh? It's so good just lounging about in the sun just now. -
• #3672
Knocked out 25k this evening - same route as 3 weeks ago, and it took me 30 minutes longer. I died on my arse because of the heat.
-
• #3673
Do you think the heat effected you especially badly due to your obesity?
-
• #3674
Ironically, I think not eating enough earlier made it a lot harder work than it should have been.
-
• #3675
Well, this should cheer you up- I managed to turn my arms, neck, and the top of my chest the exact same colour as a fire engine.
You're wasting your time - the best runners don't come from Kenya any more. Hounslow, that's where it's at. They've got unique genetic advantages and it's handy for the airport.
