I don't really like running on grass. I don't know why. Guess I'm a roadie at heart :)

Bugger. I think. Are you bothered by this news? Do we need to drown your sorrows 'ardcore on Wed?

break-ups are never good, but sometimes you can see the writing on the wall and you have to accept it.
so anyway, RUNNING!!

I'm going to run more this year. I did 11k this afternoon. Not very fast, but I am pretty unfit and lazy.
I have a Nike Plus, it's fun. Lance Armstrong congratulated me on my workout today.

This week I ran, jogged, puffed four times round Brockwell park, before that 20 years ago. My body is in bits.
I even got overtaken by some old bat feeding the pigeons. -

I run once a week to work, Woolwich to Holborn and then at the weekend with my Tri Club and sometimes one other time. My gait was Neutral and I find Nike Marathoner perfect for the distance I run and my weight - You can do some good stuff on mapmyrun.co.uk. The other thing, always start really slow, make sure you warm up. I get all my injuries from running.
Ps: Badtmy, sorry about the girl. -

Cheapy internet shoes for running (of course getting them fitted and trying them on is important but if you know what you're after -and they have them in stock...)

I don't like running because it's too bumpy.

I cant run, wish I could. But running 50metres at the average persons jogging pace (my max) decimates me.

As it happens im starting my marathon training tomorrow. My aim is to be able to run a marathon distance in 6 months. Is this realistic. I have downloaded a running training schedule that seems to be quite easy. I have never run before.
I want to lose around 2 stone and get down to about 12% body fat. Though I climb and canoe already, I think running is the most effective method of exercise to reach my goals.

@Hippy
Always remember the following
The number of pairs trainers you need = n +1 (n being the number of pairs of trainers you own)Nike air structure triax (long distance)
Mizuno Nirvana (medium distance)
Montrail divide (trail running)
Saloman Speedcross (Off road)
My +1 = Inov8, Mudclaw 340 O+ (metal studded winter off roaders) -

6 months ? that is deffo not healthy !
Before a marathon training I recon beeing able to run a marathon distance per week
without an issue would be a good start.
Please do London 2010 ! -

This is the schedule I am using. Like I said seems pretty simple ang gradually introduces longer runs, I have no delusions of being able to run 10 miles tomorrow. I just hope I can make 1 lap around victoria park!

Fuck running. Maybe it's just me but back in my rowing days, the 2mile run we had to do as a warm up was enough for my coach to tell me I ran like a pregnant elephant.
Rowing machines ft-form of exercise other than cycling-win

Never stop a man on a mission!
Those fools who hobble over the finish line are no heros to me.
Good luck with your training ! Its still very dark in the mornings... -

I used to run 80 miles a week, then I moved to London. Now it's less than 80 miles a quarter.
I second Vee Vee's suggestion of a visit to Run and Become. They really know their shit.

Rowing machines ft-form of exercise other than cycling-winRunning is cheaper and gets you outside and takes you places. Some of these are the attractions I have with cycling. I'd 'almost' prefer running to indoor cycling since at least the scenery changes and you're going somewhere.

profeet in fulham were good - did the whole running on a machine/ videoing your gait bit before I bought any shoes
the thing that always gets me is they say on training runs you should be able to hold a conversation - this never happens, I'm always to bolloxed trying to breathe through my eyeballs
The adrenalines offer mild support, as do the Mizuno. Even if you are a neutral runner its always nice with a little support.
But in the same way that roadies secretly dream of buying a MTN bike and getting dirty ;)
I say get a pair of these and go running in the woods in the rain, its the bollocks.
