  • All the pictures I've seen make it look a v.testing race, which National should be of course.

Congrats on 10km pb today @5awyr, tho clearly you didn't chase @juanito hard enough yesterday to have that much in the tank today!

  • I have to say, I felt good this morning but I've been in a haze all afternoon. Tomorrow will be fun.

Well done on your result @juanito.

  • What sites are folks using for good pricematch trainer deals at present? Runners Need & Decathlon have what I'm after but pretty much at rrp or tiny discount.

    #austeritybuyer

  • sportsshoes.com is my normal go to if I know what I need.

  • ^ this. Many online shops struggle to differentiate between inov8's different fit systems and wiggle and others have often mis-listed and sent me the wrong shoe. Last time I phoned sport shoes to clarify that they had the actual shoe that I wanted and the very helpful lady put a note on the order that it should pass by her desk so she could double check it personally before sending it out. I've been very happy with them.

  • Cool, thanks both i'll see how they price up there.

  • If you take an old pair into Runners Need they'll give you £20 off. Offer ends tomorrow though.

  • ^ Ta, olds are relegated to other duties until destruction tho.

Sportshoes has v4 at £40 off and v5 is full price, Decathlon has v5 at £25 off, so looks a better bet at mo.

  • Actually I have a £20 off voucher you can have as I did donate a pair but the shoes I wanted were already discounted. You can pick up from SE1 or SE22. Valid until 31 March.

  • Thanks, am in M21 though so perhaps a closer forumenger can make use?

  • In other news was fortunate this didn't get through...

  • Runners Need actually have a price match policy. This includes online price matching. Pretty handy if you want to try on a new pair of shoes. I picked up a bargain Garmin 220 this way - just show them the website instore.

Zero running miles so far in March. I aborted an attempted MP treadmill run after 5 miles on Tuesday as I could feel the achilles niggle being bad enough to affect my running gait. Since then I've managed 8.5 hours of x-training including 120 miles on the bike and rediscovered the elliptical trainer in the gym. God I can build up a sweat trying to get to marathon HR on that thing. Feels as though I can still manage some easy paced running without making things worse so I'm attempting a very easy long run tomorrow. Another physio appointment on Friday, which hopefully will tell me whether or not starting the Bath HM on Sunday is a good idea. Probably not!

  • Feeling good after a tourist parkrun (Dolgellau) and a 8.5 mile run at Coed y Brenin.... First decent trail run....Muddy and slippery downhill, but great fun!
    MTB Coed y Brenin tomorrow!

Yeah this is precisely why I asked about sites I could match against. I live opposite RN up here and have done well on price match. One guy even did the pricematching for me proactively one visit as he seemed pissed off working for them!

  • P.s. hope you can work through these injuries!

  • Oh my! Lucky escape!!

  • So, went out with a mate who told me he wasn't running due to piriformis issues - I'd never heard of this before. Next run, I get shooting pains down my back into my thigh. This has got worse, until I went to physio yesterday - piriformis syndrome.

So it's now been empirically proven- all I need to do is hear about an injury or condition to contract it. Please don't mention any rare, deadly or particularly painful blood disorders or cancers.

  • 'Vulcano' Pizza seemed a good idea last night.... #racepreperrors

  • Another of my sporadic XC races this morning. 5 miles in 44 mins the rain (which started just as the whistle went...).
Got to properly christen some new Roclites and test out a new Forerunner 35 that I finally bought after much procrastination. Lots of new stats on Connect to digest. Interestingly I hooned it down a hill at the start to pick up some places and managed to jump my heart rate up high. Although I don't think it unduly affected my time (which was as expected) it didn't come down after that at all. I've also noticed that there are differences between Connect and Strava resluts. Would I be right in thinking that Connect is likely to be more accurate?

  • V40 debut, not club linked so chance to air the mapei vest too.

Topped Win Hill (in a white out again) in top 40 places, lost 4-5 mins on descent due to my poor vision and confidence underfoot. Held position after there and ran home steady solo as the field was quite spread out.

Good fun and nice cakes at finish = Bonus.

  • 10k PB of 47:01 today, reckon I could improve on it in better weather conditions too. Also who knew that Regent's Park had hills?

  • 30k yesterday followed by xc this morning and another 15k this afternoon... Ankle seems to be holding up well.

Xc was particularly fun. A new venue for the league and imo one of the most enjoyable xc courses I've run. A mix of long and short climbs/descents with almost no flat, lots of mud and a few little obstacles and water jumps to keep runners on their toes and the spectators entertained. 10/10.

  • Well done GWGS ^^

^ Xc after the national? Good it's making the season longer.

Made the Instagram cut, shows the conditions at Win Hill as they were worsening:

3 others in this vid finished in top 25, the rest low 30's, it was all climbing to here so if I can sort my vision & get descending with more confidence it will help lots in future races.

Aye, the final round of the Oxon XC league. Sadly all over now though.

  • Those conditions look tough. Good work.

Nice pb @Grand-Wizard-Goma-Sauce. Lose today's wind and there's nearly a minute in there.
