I just booked flights this week to new zealand via the states I can take a bike as 1pc of luggage with Air New Zealand, yours will have their bike policy on the airline luggage page.
Just pack all your stuff in the box you put your bike in makes for a super large suitcase

Emirates. The bike will class as part of my luggage. I do plan to pad the box out with clothes, and kill 2 birds with 1 stone.
