A bit left field this one, but I often get asked about off road rides near Milton Keynes. Most are to 'busy' to map but this is a nice circuit. 31 miles 2 1/2 hours.

done it 3 times now and it's great - no problem fixed or SS unless you try and tackle Devil's Dyke at the end!

Anybody know a nice route out west from sth london? I'm going to see a mate who lives in Ascot and I'm struggling to find a relatively direct route that doesn't involve loads of main roads...

Anyone got a nice route from London out to Stonegate in East Sussex? Perhaps via a large hill?

You sir - it is your lucky day.

Cheers spybot, impressed you did that fixed, even with gears I couldn't get up the very top part of that 25% gradient either. Knole Park was a good place for a pitstop. I'll beat that hill next time...

Anyone know any good rides out South East from London? Found this to Canterbury but not sure what the route will be like:

Seems to cut along the coast which could be nice...

Infact has anyone ever cycled to the Isle of Sheppey?

Hm, seems like a fairly frosty reception to that query--I'd ask in a different thread if I were you. This one will probably benefit from few posts in between routes. In answer to your question, there are a couple of TNRC routes in Kent (search for 'TNRC'), and people have also done longer rides, including to Canterbury, but I haven't heard of an Isle of Sheppey ride having taken place (do organise one). If you go to one of the large routing web-sites (Bikely, Bikemap.net, etc.), you should find plenty. And the route you've found appears to be from Canterbury. ;)

Frosty indeed! ha. Cheers for the advice - I'll have a hunt for TNRC. I've created my own route with mapmyride.com which you can find here:

Will do it this weekend and see if it's good enough to plan a ride

You can find plenty of Dulwich Paragon SE London rides at Garmin.
Here's the 75 miler I did on Sunday

Do report back. I've never been to the Isle of Sheppey. Might be one for next year. Key would be a decent place (pub/restaurant or something) to spend some time in at the finish.

Yeah I will do - Metcheck says bright sunshine all day tomorrow so should be a good day for it

Don't go to the Isle of Sheppey!!! Or at least not in the summer - roads were packed full of drivers and it's full of drunk Brits on holiday... not really what I was expecting. Ha!

Anyone got a bikely or KML version of this route to Brighton? (http://www.freewebs.com/cycleroutes/)

Anyone work around Liverpool Street know of any good lunch time rides? Got to be able to fit getting changed, a fair amount of pace during the ride, a shower and getting changed again into one hour...
The problem I'm having is that all the roads around here are quite traffic and traffic lights heavy, so looking for a good circuit that I can get a bit of the old physical exertion thing going, any ideas?
-
• #123
Taken to heading to Southwark Park, bombing round it 3-4 times and heading back. The ride takes about 45 minutes from Bank-ish to the park, round and round a few times and then back, so enough time to shower and change...
Anyone got any better suggestions?

Surrey Hills
Tried to follw this route. Got quite lost. Unhelpfully, every road in Surry seems to be called "The Street".
Actually had quite a nice ride nonetheless. Here's what we ended up doing:

Rubbish. At least 1/3 of them are called "New Road".
Hope you stopped at the Post Office in Peaslake for some of their delicious home-make hot goodies of the pies/rolls/samosa/cheese straws/etc variety?
why do people choose to ride city streets when there is so much good riding 'out there'?
contrary to popular myth there are no dragons or monsters and hills will not kill you.
a short ride on saturday, the run back down from box hill was traffic free, fast and twisty.
