  • the valley!

  • I know... I'm damn well going

  • ok i am in

I'm getting tickets today, want me to get you one?

  • can't go, i'm afraid. i'll be racing cars on the 22nd

  • I'm getting tickets today, want me to get you one?

argh. i'll bet you meant elder tickets.

  • correct, I wasn't going to stump up festival tickets.. especially as I'm on the blag for that.

    I bought my elder tickets

  • i'll grab an elder ticket today at some point.

  • Saw High on Fire at the weekend, I'll probably sound like an old man here but they were way too loud. You couldn't hear shit, just a wall of white noise, no vocals or riffs or anything really. Add to that the bonus of total hearing destruction...I tried a bit of htfu but it was pointless. I was really looking forward to hearing the De Vermis stuff, they put in a great performance too but it's just sounded a mess to me, shame.

  • Do you use earplugs?

  • Do you use earplugs?

Only once when I saw Sleep a few years back. I really regret not taking any this time, although I spoke to a few people wearing them and they weren't having a much better time. I won't be going to a gig without them now though.

  • All venues should offer them for free I thought? We never have a problem getting disposable ear plugs from any venue.

  • Yes I do, I bought a pair that allow different filters allowing you to hear the music at a lower volume rather than blocking out a lot of it

Manchester? Mate went and said it was cracking... were you standing next to a speaker?

    You have linky?

  • You have linky?

they're very similar to these... I think

Alpine Music Safe Classic Filter Ear Plug - White: Amazon.co.uk: Musical Instruments

    Edit: pretty similar to Object's

  • "No feeling of isolation" - sold

It was Birmingham academy, my mate had warned me about the sound at this place so maybe it was more to do with the venue. The sound was reverberating so badly that the bits you could hear sounded completely out of time. We tried pretty much every spot in the venue, it was marginally better down the front but obviously much more punishing volume.

I'll definitely be checking those earplugs, the isolation thing is what's put me off in the past, bit silly really. Best try and save what's left.

  • I doubt I'd be able to hear now if it wasn't for those style of ear plugs.
I occasionally forget to take them with me to gigs and always regret it afterwards.

    Looking forward to Friday then...

  • No afraid not, we were running late. Got there just before HOF started, I'd not heard of any of the support acts but would have liked to check em out.

yeah I liked that a lot

Don't bother about the support, I did... second rate tool clone, jumping jack slightly better but was to nickleback and according to reviews have very little material.
    Buy ons I reckon... shame

  • Victor Griffin's In-graved have been announced for desertfest.. Fuck Yes... they were one of the bands I was really annoyed about missing at Roadburn
