  • Also wtf is it with gigs finishing at 10:15pm? What are we, 12?

  • ha. the sunday gigs in summer are the worst. it's only just got dark!

clutch were boss last night. how they have managed to slip under the radar of most for 20 years is beyond me. is it becausre they are fat/baldy/beardy?

Partly. I think also it's because they don't really evolve - they basically put out the same (excellent) record once every four years, which is great for musicians who know what they like, but it's not really a narrative you can follow as a casual listener - the riffs get a bit more intricate and the lyrics a bit more subtle and that's yer lot. Still a great band tho.

  • Clutch were ace last night..a good smattering from all their albums and the new stuff sounded great too

Didn't see you Red... you get my text?

fair points. i am biased, so i would say they have evolved quite a lot over the years, but as you say, to the casual listener, maybe not.

i got your text, (i thought i replied?!). it was packed when we got there, so i just kinda stayed put. sorry about that.

    top show.

  • Devil Driver, Cannibal Corpse, Winds of Plague and my favorite band The Black Dahlia Murder are playing in London on March 7th at the Forum in Highgate.
I'm fucking excited. My favorite band playing within walking distance of my house. I've bought a ticket.

  • For those of you that missed the drop, here's the first track off the new LP... Gets better with every listen...

  • Just had a listen to Hark. Sounds very much like Taint to me, which is fine! They do the riffs in a blender thing really well.

Been listening to some predictable yet satisfying d-beaty mosh today in the form of Nails:

Also been revisiting some Hydra Head stuff this last week. Fuck the haters, there's loads of good riff on there.

  • Win.

What's the best album of theirs? I don't know much about them and gave their newest one a listen and thought it was ok, not blown away though.

I'm in to stuff like wolves in the throne room and whatnot so am generally into this type of stuff, just thinking maybe i listened to the wrong album?

  • Turbowolf are playing at 02 islington in April.
Warming up for ...and you will know us by the trail of dead.
I don't know Trail of Dead, but Turbowolf are by far my favourite band at the moment.
First found out about them when they opened for WolfMother last summer. missed most of their set getting pissed up, caught the last 4 songs or so and was enthralled.
Biggest regret in music was missing the whole set.
Electro Thrash punk metal in all its glory.

  • Ramesses have announced they're in hibernation and are all concentrating on separate projects... Sad day.

  • A heavy metal classic here from 1973, Golden Earing and Radar Love: Golden Earring ~ Radar Love - YouTube

  • My friends had that as their wedding dance (both work in aviation)... they broke out the inflatable guitars half way through. Quality

Mass IV is the one imo - I wouldn't have been able to enjoy Mass V as much if I hadn't picked up IV first.
