Once I've crashed into Scott's enough to know it'll stay in one piece I'll pretend I'm going to get one but remain too poor to buy it.

I think I might order a Mielec for my birthday. What kind of waiting time is there Rob? 4weeks?
-
• #9754
Lol!
4 weeks is jokes right?
-
• #9755
About a month longer than whatever you are told.

• #9756
Not a frame to buy if you have any kind of time constraints.
-
• #9757
A frame to but if you have money constraints though.
-
• #9758
Yup, if you don't mind the possibility of waiting then go for it, I think I will. I like my fixeh.

I think some mielec's have come off very well, and others have measurements the wrong way around (seat/top & seat/chain stays being swapped) which is prob more communication error than fab error.

Ive got a rather good experience, i asked for a 700 fork that could take a 40c tire but it hardly accepted a 35. Emailed and got another fork in 2 months later.
I got the travel version, and the couplers till now hold pretty well, and for serial for that money a frame with couplers?! Pretty sweet imho.
Mine is fine. Brake mounts far better aligned than my Chaiwanese and somewhat 'respectable' Cotic.
I've only worked on a few Marinos/Hijas but in my experience huge manufacturers and custom builders also make mistakes. The difference with most custom builders is that they will work with you to resolve them. And with big manufacturers, a reputable shop should catch those problems before they even reach a customer.
IMO Marinos/Hijas are amazing for the money, but if he's going silent and ignoring errors then they'll probably become less ubiquitous.

Latest incarnation of the big wheel basterd, only it now has one big wheel and one normal wheel so maybe a name change is in order lol.
Changing bars/forks to lower the front end (and maybe gain 1 degree of head angle, no w somewhere between 72 & 73 degrees) has made a big difference to the way I play, only down side is puts a lot more strain on left hand wrist hence the ergo grips. -

Oh and mallet head died today, magic polo job I think, wore very quickly through the edges of the striking end, so turned the shaft 90 degrees, might get another few days out of it by putting a 3rd set of holes in it lol.

You could flip the stem to lift the bars a little?

Hi, a white one, or a green one?

It would rise it just over an inch, but I'm liking the lower front end, allows me to play around the front wheel, vs. before it was daft to reach around it lol.
RE: mallet it was a white one, I think it was one of the ones made from the wrong plastic? Trying to track down a decent source of ABS material to use as a cap as I have a huge stash of PVC pipe thats light but brittle.

Yup white, as in the pic and the post.
Striking end started wearing away from the first day of play (nearly half way through), then it cracked on the second day so had to drill out the end of the crack then put another set of holes in it to rotate the damage away from the shaft, now worn through the other side too.For pro play I get paying £20 per head is maybe fine, but think unless there was something mega wrong with that batch then will just stick to gas/water pipe + cap, lighter and seem to be last longer but not as pretty ;)

You clearly haven't kept upto date have you? check out the magic bike polo thread. If you paid even close to £20 for a white magic head, you got ripped off.
The 1st one was a fuck up, mainly a communication problem, the bike actually came out quite well and rides nice, but not as asked for. He's received his new one and it's what he wanted and is nice, although the welds are ugly, but if you pay more he'll smooth them which looks good on my fixeh. I think if you use him you need to be very careful to triple confirm things with geo, spacing etc. and make very clear drawings. If you do this they seem to be able to make you anything you want about a month after they say they will. The fat bike in the Mielec thread is proof they know what they are doing.
