  • bike to work scheme. Why pay full price?

  • you can buy mine off me for 600 notes - I'll give you a receipt and everyfink…

  • B -our company is way too small, ive looked into it before....im the only person that would actually use it...

BDW - im fine thanks, you can keep your tractor ;)

  • 550 then, final offer…

  • Splash the cash on bomb-proof wheels & decent cranks.

  • bummer, i heartily recommend 14. but seriously if your gonna buy a new bike, why not turn your old bike into your polo bike... and tom is right

  • B, do you also recommend Shimano and DT Swiss? ;)

  • fuji track frame, 48 hole wheels, decent cranks with bashguard.

  • B -because my old bike got nicked, and my other frame is a super lo-pro.

The polo bike is the one that will get ridden the most, and equally get the hardest beating, so i may as well spend a bit on it getting it how i want it....

Tom/Snoops - think im heading that way...

  • 48 hole chukka rims arrive in brick lane in a couple of weeks

  • IROs are a decent cheapish frame as well.

  • checked out the chukka's at the weekend, they do look bombproof, but they weigh a fucking ton...

  • but once you put discs on any wheels they weigh a ton, i'd guess that a pair of 48 chukkas would weigh less than my 32h formula/rigidas with discs front and back.

  • Either way, for £600 you can built a sweet polo bike. I think I spent £200 on mine!

  • heh, 600 is the top end of the budget, im not sure i'll actually end up spending that much!

  • Surly Steamroller for wider tyres.

  • If you can you should.
Like you said it's the bike that you will ride most.

Just remember to lock it inside the house next time.

    Word.

indeed, and yes, all bikes living inside from now on!

  • Steamroller is probably stronger than a sword as well, those swords look a little flimsy to me, something beefy with a load of bmx parts would be the order of the day I reckon, if you're freewheeling it and want something a bit different, gsport finally pulled their finger out and got a cassette type hub on the market, I would go with 48h Gsports front and back, on some rigida sputniks, and you've got hubs that will never ever die, and rims which will probably never die ;)

  • crazy size chainring:

great excuse to fit one of these

g sport cassette thingy ^ can't seem to find any of their front hubs in 48H anymore though.....shame.

  • I dont do freewheel....think im gonna check out the Steamrollers, have heard lots of good things, other than whats been said on this thread, look good for the price.

  • Hub wise I would say Phils or Goldtec are gonna be the strongest then, lace em up to some sputniks and you're good to go, I wouldn't touch profiles.
Oh yeah and straight gauge spokes probably best for side impacts in polo, bmx cranks, beefy bmx chainring....jobs a good un,
