you put the brakes on wrong.

You changed some angles from the original drawing?
-
• #2554
Josh, can I ask how much was it?
-
• #2555
i think it's just the angle of the photo that makes the HT look a lot steeper
the geometry is:
ST 530mm 73º
TT 525mm
HT 135mm 73º
chainstay length 385mm
fork rake 30mm
trail 65mm (with 26x1.3)
wheelbase 922mm
BB height 266mmit's for 26" wheels.
rik it was a bit less than £600 before paint -

Me again.
Does anyone have some old bmx ish pedals to go on Moog's old beater? -

Has anyone got an opinion on the White Industries double/double system?
Positives: road gear and polo gear without much hassle.
Negatives: chainring showing when playing polo... big no? -
• #2558
big no, even expose crank spiders are evil. Also, exposed outer rings are outlawed in the new NA Rule set. Not that we follow those rules, but we may oneday.
And the difference between the two gears in really minimal. I run a 4t difference on my cassette hub, and it's just enough to be worth while.

Tah Gabes, I was looking at maybe doing a 24/36 with bash DH combo too (16t freewheel at the back for ~40" and ~60"), but the chainline would be pretty bad and I may have a massive q-factor... hmm.
Maybe DH crank and WI double freewheel for lots of options?

if you run 3/32 chain (I do), chainline isn't much of an issue. My polo chainline is spot on, my road chainline isn't great, but the chain has never shipped yet.
KMC Singlespeed 3/32 chain rocks, you can get from charlie the bike monger.

i think a cassette hub is a much better idea than white industries double freewheel. more choice on gears, and it allows you to dial in the spacing better too. 2 chainrings is not bad as long as you have a bashguard larger than your big ring. you wouldn't be able to switch between 24 and 36 tooth chainrings on the same cog unless you have 3" dropouts.. but you could do something like 40t and 32t chainrings (depending on your chainset) coupled with 15t and 22t rear sprockets.. that would give you 72GI and 39GI with less than a cm of dropout difference on the same chain

Has anyone got an opinion on the White Industries double/double system?
Positives: road gear and polo gear without much hassle.
Negatives: chainring showing when playing polo... big no?if you run another chainring only 1 or 2 teeth bigger, (but combined with smaller sprocket worthwile). When the chain is on the smaller chainring it should protrude enough that you cant even touch the bigger chainring.

here :
http://www.billys.co.uk/english/group.php?prod=bsdnvpswill this work on my bruiser frame? I'm going from U to V
-
• #2564
? bruisers have v-brake mounts
-
• #2565
yeah you bloody idiot chan, did you not even think to look on your bike?
-
• #2566
Nope, u brake mounts and they are on the wrong side of the stays to fit a v brake
-
• #2567
i think all forms of canti bosses are the same whether there's a centre-pull, u-brake, or v-brake.and the side of the stays won't affect whether a v-brake will work there, as long as it fits. have you tried a v-brake there yet? if the clearance is a problem maybe try one of those "mini-v"s? http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?PartnerID=79&ModelID=34580 -
• #2568
nope, they're different. 990 mounts sit above the rim, v-brake mounts sit below.
-
• #2569
also the power gain between a u and v brake would probably be negated by the loss of energy through the brake plate if you do need a brake plate
-
• #2570
ok, can someone just point me in the direction of what i need to set this up?
-
• #2571
do you have a caliper mount also or just u-brake
-
• #2572
just u brake, but i'm sure cosmic todd secured his plate on without using the caliper mount?
-
• #2573
yeah you can just strap it with zip ties or hose clamps, but i reckon you could get canti bosses done for around £30. do you need a new paint job yet? ;)
-
• #2574
todd seems happy with his i think
-
• #2575
Todd's always happy though...
i thought you'd welded did it.
