Cool. Can't see myself being in the top three any time soon if ever :D
At pretty much every UK tournament we've been to, we've had the option of taking two teams, so you don't need to be top-three. And at those tournaments we've usually had to scramble to get players, so there should be plenty of opportunities.

Oh, @ 2squeak - it would be cool to see that wheel-cover material, can you bring a sample next time? I bought some plain-guage aluminium pipe off ebay, but it seems the tapered ski-pole is the strongest design. It also seems that 7075 aluminium is far stronger (in this application at least) than other types. Can you get that?

• #1354
Yeah sure, I will bring said sample =)
I can get any grade of metals you want ;) Shh!!

You can borrow my very humble and crappy bike to have a knock about on and save damaging yours if you likes too :)
Need to add another attendee for tomorrow Pete, he's bought my spare mallet off me and is coming on his old school Marin Eldridge grade.
I'll be driving over from Cov
right, weird weekend prevented my attendance, but next sunday for sure, and thanx for saying i can tip along on your old bike, though im not too worried about mine and would rather not mess anyone elses wheels up,
see you next sunday hopefully....!ps, if any other fresh meat newbies want to pitch up together, get in touch x

Getting materials has not struck as a problem, which is a result. Good friends with someone who works in purchasing so now have a suitable length of metal for a mallet handle.
I know for a fact i can buy direct at trade Ally piping in various sizes etc through him, as people have done so before (i tied it to said persons roofrack). Its usually kept 'nudge nudge wink wink' and monies involved, if at all, is donated to help for heroes.
I can have a word if you wish, and cut to length, which is easier, and i wont represent some sort of futuristic knight trying to joust cars on my way home on my petrol powered bike.
Wheel cover material comes in 2 variants, i will bring both.
Mallet heads, had a bit of a brainstorm, magic stuff at work..interesting lightbulb moment.. -

bloody andy... he got visibly more angry after i heckled (can you heckle when you're playing?) that he would be really dangerous if only he could shoot.
I don't even know what came over me! i had a sudden burst of energy which i failed to use properly by just taking outrageous shots from far off. appologies for this - i will calm down next week and hopefuly improve my aim

Don't appologise, it's nice to see i'm not the only one with sporadic outbursts of randomness, it was also quite funny. :)

I think I'm going to bail tomorrow night - shitty lights and shitty court are getting on my balls. If we can solve the former it'll become tempting, but at the moment it just seems like a waste of time waiting around after work for an hour just to play for an hour.
Sunday/Highgate FTW!

I've found another place to play by me, it's a roller hockey court in Bedworth at Bedworth leisure centre, I shall enquire how much it is to borrow it and it's lights on a regular basis next time i'm passing.
It's less than a mile from Bedworth Train station.
these are the co-ordinates 52.475124,-1.473129 put them in google maps :) any good? -

Well, today sorted the tubing out.
6062 spec, 19mm od, 2mm thick in a 5 meter length. Will cut in to 1 metre lengths and transport home.
Better grade than Ski Poles, so thats cool.
I'm going to have 2, give Dan one as his snapped last Sunday, give Simps one so she shall shut up and have a spare..shout out if anyone wants.
The cost..buy me a carton of ribena or something...lmao =)
Should have it Friday =)
-
• #1371
wow - good find. definitely find out about costs etc
we could give it a demo-game and then if it's good to play on it could be used for a tournament.
-
• #1372
will do, I'll go have a look on my Marin and see how slippy etc it is, take some phone piccies.
will prob be friday when I get chance as dog training every night between now and then

Thanks Simon - I've already made a replacement, but would still like to give it a go. I seem to break/bend poles far more often than other people, so I need a plentiful supply. If it proves to be strong and light, you could sell in bulk to them London types.
-
• #1374
Considering the price of ski poles and the price you can get said material its a bit of a shocker.
5 metres..for around..4 quid..i kid you not!!
Aircraft grade 7 series is a bit overkill to be fair..6062 should fit the bill, good mechanicals etc =)
Sod that, keep it local..hassle..keep it local and simple =)
