ive never played polo before and im an lfgss newbie, can i come watch?
newbies are always welcome. it's a public court so there's nothing stopping you from coming to watch. you can borrow a mallet if you want to have a go at playing too.
edit: not that i actually turn up more than once a year.

BTW Dan, does the thing on the website need changing to "every wednesday at 6.30pm"?
-
• #1329
@ matt - yeah i thought so, i didn't want to be presumptive though.
@ pastry lover - 6.30 is probably better than 8, but the lights have become more of a problem, not less, so the whole wednesday night session is problematic at the moment.
@ fixiebelle - come and watch and have a go too. half of the people who have confirmed have only played a few times, so now is the ideal time.

You can borrow my very humble and crappy bike to have a knock about on and save damaging yours if you likes too :)
Need to add another attendee for tomorrow Pete, he's bought my spare mallet off me and is coming on his old school Marin Eldridge grade.
I'll be driving over from Cov

looking good for tomorrow. it looks like it's going to be a brisk start though, so everyone wrap up warm.
simple - the convention is to copy and paste with lists and things. quotes are mainly for making direct references to something someone has said and/or mocking them.

7 people, plus rumours of Pistaboy (whom Void reckons looks like a policeman/football hooligan with an 'interesting' face) and Pastrylover! Woop!
10am sharp, people!

Neah, aware of a quotes purpose in the world, chose to ingore it on the basis of convenience and speed, I type faster than I can press 'ctrl C + ctrl v'...hence the quote and spiel below it.
Pete cant get there till 10.30 tomorrow due to trains as he lives in Lichfield.

no worries - i usually just try to encourage promptness so that we can start playing games asap, but it rarely works.
looks like the playing surface may be wet. we've never played on this court after it's rained, so fingers crossed it's still grippy (in the dry it's awesome, some kind of sticky coating). if not, we'll decamp to calthorpe and face the wrath of sunday father/son footballers.

1: you're a muppet, i'll put in an order for some tubing please so Io can make up a spare mallet, I expect to pay nothing for this and I expect you to drop it over at my house on the comedy honda motorcycle you ride.
2: what is this mystery material of which you speak?
Aluminium wheel discs ftw :D -

Great effort from all you newbies - BHM next generation in the making, just need to get you all upto speed for the tournements next summer.
I to have a fair few bruises, mostly from Mr Wentskiing mashing the ball at me! Revenge will be had.
More photos to follow once I sort them out... but just to start them off!

I like that photo alot, must not lean on unsecured gate..must not!
Must also leave keys in makeshift workshop to avoid attaching oneself to Matt's bike.Wish I could still make the wednesday games too.
what's this tourny in summer then? Is there a linky to last years info?

I have a great defintion of comedy, my polo mallet under your back wheel, a swift yank and watch you tumble =P
Payment of polo mallet delivery is cupious amounts of coffee, those biscuits you dunk in them and loan of your gun to shoot flying rats. If im feeling generous i might even stash that chainset with your name on it in my rucksack.
Stuff from work is what they wrap around large sized plates (exotic alloys) to stop them getting damaged, strong, workable and foc...can get as much as the comedy bike can carry with bungees and cargo nets =)
-
• #1344
Flying rats extinct in my air space..fact, the ferrets arn't amused with biscuit only diet at the mo,
Ooo chainset, really really need one of those and really really don't have any money to buy one.
-
• #1345
oh..could we paint a target on someones back and give them 10 to run for it?
Its not the best chainset, but its done around 20 miles, must not grumble..yours =)
just get a chain..yers is fubared

Dan getting shoved off it by andy..

bloody andy... he got visibly more angry after i heckled (can you heckle when you're playing?) that he would be really dangerous if only he could shoot. i still don't understand why i can't make my excess bulk work for me.
i really enjoyed the games today. good to see new players picking it up so quick (lukas got to grips really fast i reckon) and a nice jovial atmosphere to boot.
as dan says, there will be lots of tournaments next year, which will fall into two categories: 1) big uk ones where we can take as many teams as we can muster and the only decision will be if you want to come and 2) smaller uk and euro ones where we'll probably only be able to send one team if we even get that chance so you'll have to compete for a place in the top three.
there's rumours of a couple of uk tournaments in the spring, so if you want to be considered, keep practising and we'll vote for seeding beforehand. there's posts explaining how this stuff is decided on birminghambikepolo.com.
