• all yours, but blow me another kiss and you will have a pole suitable for a garden gnome =P

  • Fail on light recce tonight I'm afraid, to many late night in the office doing uni rubbish! I did go past at 8 on sunday and they were still blazing but can't remember if they went off after 8 last week or before.

@Simple - that court looks a dream, rounded corners and I suspect good barriers and surface.

@2squeak will definatley have a length of that pole if you've got some spare, could swap it for a peice of the yellow stuff if you haven't found any yet or exchange for carton of forementioned beverage?

  • Lol, you'll have a length of his pole? fnarr

  • Aircraft grade 7 series is a bit overkill to be fair..6062 should fit the bill, good mechanicals etc =)

Cool - aluminium grades confuse the bejesus out of me. The general consensus in polo scenes much larger than ours is that 7075 is best, but I can't quite believe that a ski-pole has anywhere near the same design requirements, so fingers crossed...

They've been going on with weird inconsistency. +/- 10 minutes on the hour, I'd say.

If people playing tonight need a ball, I'll have one with me at work today.

  • Also - I have a yellow head, cut out cheater-mallet style, with a cap (right handed only) and a bolt. Used once, £5 (what I paid for it)

    Racist!

  • Ally pole delivered at work..now to cut it up in to metre lengths fri and transport, sorted =)

I'll have four, so alls covered for you peeps...and will swap for a bit of the yellow stuff.

Ski poles are made out of 4 grade ally..yes i was sad and looked it up, if this stuff is too heavy or whatever no worries, can get varying thicknesses etc no problem.

Bring that mallet head dan, ill have a look if you dont mind? It was the 'cheaters' that threw me.

Carrying the poles with the wheel material sure will get some strange looks, probably going to resemble a bizarre tent....

  • Duh, should have read that through properly...im southpaws...no use to me..ta though =)

  • Sunday 14th November 10am highgate park

I think the material varies - I try to look out for 7075 ones, although the one I broke on Sunday was made from that. It also had what can only be referred to as a 'seam' running down the middle of the inside, which may have made it weaker.

I'll bring the head for you to look at on Sunday - I'm not going tonight.

  • not going tonight either
sunday good for peeps on a regular basis?

  • Cool, ill take a look at that mallet head=)
I did not hunt only a quick browse at work before the deal was done, so figured a grade that didnt break the bank with a larger wall thickness would be a benefit, we'll see =)
If i notice any titanium though...heh heh ;-)

no joke - them london types did a bulk order on titanium shafts, i think around £20 each. wish i'd got in there when i could.

good for me, and seems to be more accessible to more people more often. still want to continue with wednesdays when we can, but perhaps a shift of emphasis is what's required. plus, highgate is sooooo much nicer to play on.

  • hmm, give it a bit and i'll see what i can do, been taking the mickey with employer rapage recently..but 20 quid a pole sounds..expensive..see what trade prices fathom..

  • got another 200 flyers anyone want some?

  • I'll have 199 please

  • Hey fin. It's matt. Ill take some flyers... you coming on sunday?

  • Simon - you can give 'my' pole to someone else, or use it for a spare, as I have a few spare already.

  • SHOULD the site be changed to 'every sunday 10am' then? And shall i change the events i've posted on birminghamcyclist?

  • i don't know, to be honest.

it always worked well when this was the only place where we talked about times and locations for games, but of course it failed to attract new people. conversely, it's really annoying to update three different sites every time we change something.

  • yeah true, well just pm me if any changes need making and i'll do it while i'm pretending to be a courier and chauffeur controller but really just internet surfing all day

    3 Teams!!!!!
I have some heavy drinking between now and then but should get there!

  • We could do three teams and stay in those formations - dunno if it would help the newer players in any way...

For example - fin, plus two new players

                     me, plus two new players
dan and andy with a new player

should make fairly even teams. and then we don't need to shuffle mallets after each game. it would be nice to try to improve as teams.
