if you were a really crap manager you could be collecting three lots of 50k a week from three sackings
who says crime doesn't payOh Hai!
-
• #96903
Dicki, wouldn't the pay cease once you've signed the contract for the next job?
so Mcleish gets sacked by birmingham, sits at home counts the money, gets contract at aston villa, sits at villa park and takes the new money because the birmingham cash has finished, and awaits sacking as manager so that he can sit at home collecting more money for doing nothing.. -
• #96904
aren't they buying him out of the contracts rather than giving him gardening leave
sacking vs leaving by mutual content vs resigning ?payout would be different in each of those three non ?

Laudrup sacked

That's an odd one. A bit like West Brom sacking Clarke I suppose, they had been doing pretty badly but their struggles were slipping under the radar a bit. Maybe because, like West Brom, when they were doing well a lot of people saw it as overachievement whereas fans and owners see it as a marker of what is possible.

Surprising, things not going well there but didn't think they would sack him, odd time to do it, big fall out probably.

"It is a decision we have taken reluctantly,'' said the Swansea City chairman, Huw Jenkins. "But it's a decision made in the best interests of Swansea City Football Club and our supporters.
"It is the first time in nearly 10 years that the club has parted with a manager in this way, but we had to remove the constant uncertainty surrounding the club and Michael's long-term future with us.
"I had a meeting with Michael today in a final attempt to support him and establish a way to improve the work of the backroom team to secure the results we need over the final 14 Premier League games.
"However, after thinking long and hard about the best way forward, I felt it was unlikely we would achieve a stable environment at the club to allow us to get back to basics and produce the performance levels that have served Swansea City so well over the last few years."
Does that mean that it wasn't a straightforward sacking but a difference of opinions followed by an agreement it wouldn't work? Or have they just given him the boot and tried to make it sound less cut-throat?

real shame as Laudrup is a quality manager, plays great football and seems to really know how to get the best out of average players. Swansea wouldnt have gone down this season. Its madness that chairmen think that anything other than 17th place is the goal for the first 3 seasons for a newly promoted club. Laudrup got screwed because of his overachievements last season
-
• #96910
Suggestions are that it is more falling out between Huw Jenkins and Laudrup's agent, who has already fucked them off before by trying to sell Ashley Williams without the club's permission, and trying to arrange transfers in behind the club's back. Maybe the board wanted him to do one and Laudrup refused.

From the above I would say it sounds like Laudrup wasn't willing to commit his future to the club - though why it would be better to make this decision now, rather than a couple months before/after.
Swansea haven't had as good of a season but they're doing a lot better than Norwich and they have gone without their star players for much of the season (Vorm, Williams, Michu).
Thats a real shame, as I have enjoyed Laudrup being a coach and the way he conducts himself

I'm a Swansea fan, and we've been shit since we won the League Cup last year. 7 wins in the last 33, and no shots on target against West Ham at the weekend (who were down to 10 men for part of the match), pretty much sums up how dire we've been.
Laudrup hasn't seemed interested since the summer, and there's been discontent behind the scenes: divided dressing room, falling out with players - Ki (now Sunderland's best player), odd tactical decisions, even rumours that he turned up only 5 mins before the start of the West Ham match.
We were definitely heading for relegation. Now with Monk in charge, we've got a chance of getting enough points to stay up. Maybe.

His man management skills would suggest otherwise.
"The club can categorically state that nobody was threatened with a brick,"
Great quote!

Garry Monk has a bit of the Roy Keane about him, which is partly what we've been missing.
"Senior players" have been demanding more intense training, and more organisation and leadership. Laudrup is too unemotional, too detached to be a great manager. -

I'm sad. The lolster Kinnear and NUComedyClub were made for each other.
Careful now. He can get on the phone to anyone. He might ring your mum and dad.

Im not a supporter but this sounds like utter tosh.
As far as I can tell, you have had issues with injuries - mainly due to the extra demands on your squad this season. There is also a certain amount of other teams knowing how you'll be set up and the fact Michu has been injured and was incredible last season. If you think Gary Monk will do a better job for your team than Laudrup, who am I to say you're wrong but I can't see it. If Swansea were my team, I'd be questioning the decision massively - who the hell else is out there? You've seen the struggle WBA faced in bringing somebody in.
As for more strenuous training, you've seen the way Moyes increase in training has improved the United teams fitness level, so go wild with that particular notion.

Though if Swansea want to sell Michu, Arsenal will take him.

Top top trolling.
@ TS that maybe the case, but wonder how much di matteo wants to be a manager there have been plenty of opportunities for him to throw his hat in the ring, but he just sits at home cashing them checks.
Wonder why players are vilified for sitting on the bench taking the cash, but somehow its different for managers to sit at home getting the checks..
Ps.Ts, I am about later, text me.
