  • Mulumbu to arsenal? Hmmmm that would be strange. You might get some use out of him as a squad player against teams outside the top four. Gives the ball away too much in his own half and this puts everyone out of position in an instant. Peaked a couple of years ago for us. Yacob on the other hand breaks up play and knocks it to the nearest man. He would be your best bet.

You're probably right, I was just thinking about someone available in Jan, not cup tied, with experience and the physicality we need. I've always liked Mulumbu.

  • Serious question: Moyes and everton injuries, too small a squad or is this something United should get used to?
    Does he overplay key players?

  • Only cunts don't get that formations are fluid and setting up as 442 is one of the simplest most effective things to do when defending.

Now now. Come on D. We all know that the modern system of a defensive midfielder covering a flat back four is probably the most effective way of defending. I was merely carrying on my dig at Timothy of Sherwood's 90s classic English manager tactics and, in turn, saying to Johnny (Canada Eh?) that 442 isn't necessarily the right way to prove which team has the best XI.

Prehistoric training methods - over works them basically

  • Great.

  • I'd be surprised if a few teams didn't try and bring Hazard in on loan in January, he needs to take the next step up. Same goes for Lucas Piazon.

But that misses the point of Pete Guardiola and his double pivot, and the great hipster team from Germany and their 2 banks of 4 when they don't have the ball. Or even Jose's big blue bus.

  • Ok, I'll do it for you Pisti:

    Howard

    Coleman
    Distin
    Jagielka

    Baines

    Barry
    Pienaar
    Barkley

    McCarthy

    Lukaku
    Mirallas

  • Howard:Mignolet. I would have said Mignolet, but after the last 2 games I'm not sure. I'll call that a draw. Howard isn't the future though, Mignolet is.

Coleman:Johnson. Johnson all day. 1:0 Liverpool
    Distin:Skrtel. Call that even
Jagielka:Sakho. Have to give that to Jags. 1:1
Baines:Enrique. Close, but give that to Baines. 2:1 Everton

    Barry:Lucas. Draw
    Pienaar:Henderson. Hendo for sure, 2:2
Barkley:Gerrard. Right now I'd still say Gerrard, but you'll have the upper hand there very soon, so call it a draw (and that's being nice)
McCarthy:Countinho. Countinho for sure. 3:2 Liverpool.

    Lukaku:Suarez. 4:2 Liverpool
    Mirallas:Sturridge: 5:2 Liverpool.

You sound more and more like Alan Hansen every day. Don't you think the tactical finesse of a 433 that switches to a 451 for defense a more pleasant and satisfying tactic for today's game?

  • Yep but not in 4-4-2

Baines and Coleman have been playing as wing backs leaving Distin n Jags as CB's with Barry covering both just in front...McCarthy being just in front of Barry
Pienaar on left wing, Mirallas right wing...Lukaku last man with Barkley just behind as the advancing CM

    So a 2-3-3-1-1

Now you're just showing yourself up to be a classic armchair belter that you so clearly are

  • I think Coleman is miles better than Johnson and this season Barry has played better than Lucas. However, if you're going historical then Pienaar is much better than Henderson.

Mirallas isn't really a striker either. If you really want a 442 with Everton you need to use Naismith...

  • ^ see....a neutral gets it right

  • Naismith doesn't count as a starting 11 player

  • Robopisti is hardly neutral....

  • Naismith doesn't count as a starting 11 player

Didn't he start your last game?

  • Robopisti is hardly neutral....

True. I don't like either club, but this could go on for hours so I thought I'd chime in.

  • Anyone who thinks Johnson is better than Coleman, Skrtle equal to Distin, Lucas equal to Barry, 'Hendo for sure' better than Pienaar....clearly only watches Liverpool games and knows fuck all about football

  • @ roboto:BOOOOOOM.

  • Didn't he start your last game?

Yep cos Mirallas was ill....he's not a starter

  • FWIW...Coleman has been ace this season and has 5 crackin Prem goals in 19 games to date

    He cost us £60k

  • You sound more and more like Alan Hansen every day.

Nah he cribbed that straight from Jonathan 'The Inverted Oracle' Wilson's tactical review of the year, part 1.

  • He cost us £60k

Don't think that's been mentioned on this thread before.

I remember when he played against us while on loan at Blackpool about three /four seasons ago, he looked like he was destined for good things then. Bit of a slow burner though.

  • Transfer window opens imminently. Whats going to happen?
