If this descends into a confused 4 page dissection of Tom Huddleston with badly sourced stats twisted to prove points barely distinguishable from anyones elses then I'm flouncing.
we could do suarez ?

• #90303
actually come to think of it , we may have already done him

lucas ?

As much as I like Huddlestone, he is about as mobile as a... insert immobile object here
Paul McGrath.

Leave Paul alone.

Sad news, never good to see a football club go to the wall.
Hinckley is a dump though.

Not really...i'm off to look up his pass completion %.
We want them split between short and long since a big element of his game is
lumping it forwardfinding that long decisive through ball. -

Shame Coventry have signed an agreement with the cobblers, this ground is a lot closer to home and they could have it all to their selves.
Sad to see clubs wind up and fingers crossed there will be an AFC Hinkley to rise from the ashes.

doesn't need to be that mobile if he's patrolling that area in front of the back four, and being the outlet for the defense, you're not asking him to spring down the wings or burst into the box, but hold and control the tempo of the game, and make sure we keep possession. Pirlo's not blessed with great pace but no one holds that against him (not making out that huddlestone is currently in Pirlo class, but he has similar attributes, whilst being twice the size)
You're wrong.
Balls.
He needs to be able to react quickly in that position.^This.
Just look at all the good holding midfielders over the last 15 years or so.
Makelele - mobile as hell, quick brain and never ever misplaced a pass.
Busquets, de Rossi, Javi Martinez, Xabi Alonso, de Jong, van Bommel all fall into that category as well. To even think that Huddlestone would be suitable to play the role at international level is preposterous, unless you want to compete on a level with the home nations of course. -

Or Spurs.

Is this going to be another 4 pages of "Cornie: wrong again"?

That's more an article saying "this has already been discussed" not "discuss further".

Bascially - Huddlestone has always looked like a player and there was a season where he got quite lean and a little more mobile; but his passing alone was never good enough to get in front of players of limited talent like Jenas, let alone good players like Sandro and Paulinho.
It's also fair to say that he never really got a fair crack at consistent first team league football, which would probably have sharpened him up a bit, but if you are aiming for the prestigious heights of nearly Champions league there is no room for streaky passengers... unless you are Defoe obviously.

Does anyone think that the bottom 2 will be any different throughout the season?
Can't see Poyet working magic with whats essentially a car crash. Sunderland have a net spend of £13m over the last 4 seasons and it shows. MON was not backed in the transfer market and now their squad is essentially an expensive gamble as I can't see a team like that bouncing up from the Championship unless they spend big on English based players. -

Jermaine Jenas.
Sir Robby Bobson loved him. -
• #90323
Can we PLEASE move on from the Defoe/Huddlestone/Spurs debate?
-
• #90324
Yes.
That Willian. What a player he could have been for Spurs this year.

what stop discussing football, and get back to moaning about Pisti and making fun of Liverpool fans? Oh please, lets...
Balls.
