Few thoughts from last night
Dave Whelan is STILL a massive cunt
£27.5 for Fellaini is good money but sad to see him gone, but had been on the cards since Jan. Good luck to him
Dave Whelan is a cunt
Gareth Barry; although far from excited, he'll be good cover for the injury prone Gibson. It's only a loan and apparently Citeh are paying 100% of his wages!
Dave Whelan is a cunt
James McCarthy; £13.5m...really??? From what I've seen of him he's a decent Championship player that would stand out somewhere like Derby or Forest but not top 6 in The Premiership. Wigan went down for a reason....
Dave Whelan is a cunt
£6m for Anichebe is decent, just glad we managed to secure a decent striker in Lukaku....should guarantee us 15+ goals
Dave Whelan is a cunt
Coup of the day though....Keeping hold of Baines!!
Dave Whelan broke his leg once playing in cup final, he rarely mentions it mind. The vile opinionated, tory gobshite.
Well done on fucking United over Pisti, Moyes and Ed Woodward have been made to like a right pair of twats.

I think the chairman and the manager swap over has left them with their pants down a bit here... Everton took them and ran around shouting whoop whoop.
Man U says Undisclosed, Everton gleefully say 27.5 mil... ha
Goes to show the incredible levels of tapping up Fergie did; either these new guys don't seem to have known or haven't realised the landscape has changed with far more competition around. IF their aura wears off I don't see them having the funds that a proper rebuild would require.

Did any of you guys know Dave Broke his leg at a Wembley Cup final?
-
• #88055
Yes, they only mentioned it 15 times during the FA cup final.

Anyway - Whelan shows that if you want to do business you either pay up or shut up.
He didn't make millions by being a charity case, love him or loathe him, the man knows to make money from transfers. -

did bale sign for madrid yet ?

I don't think James McCarthy's going anywhere near the Top 6 to be fair

So it appears Im one of the grumpier Arsenal fans.
I've had a few discussions with other Gooners and non-arsenal types alike this morning.
I still feel like the club failed totally in this transfer window and showed complete ineptitude in their strategy.
Yes we have signed Ozil, who is a sublime player and makes us much stronger. And yes we have Flamini and Viviano, who offer competition.
But it is obvious we need and wanted a striker - why were we pissing around with Demba Ba on the last day? It's plain and simply fucking moronic. Mario Gomez went for 13m, why not have gone for him? or Aubameyang? I still think there are a lot of questions that need to be answered and the signing of one player should not be allowed to paper over the cracks of utter incompetence all summer.
I am also of the opinion we need defensive cover and another body in midfield. We need a squad able to compete 3 times a week and we simply don't have the numbers. I so wanted to be positive but I cant be totally happy.

if it's any consolation .... i'm happy
with our transfer window and league position

I can kind of see what you're saying but Ozil is no crack paperer...
The creativity in his play, the likelihood of one of Ozil, Cazorla or wilshere to be an option from the bench means there will be far more goals in this team. Far more attacking ability means less for the defence to do, and we already have one of the best defences in the league.
More options would be nice but Podolski up front or Walcott were/are good options and Sagna looked no mug during his time in the centre.
This team is not bad, 4th after 32 games is no fluke... I think Arsenal fans suffer from memories of Pires, Bergkamp et al and see any current team as worse, which they probably are. But this is a good team, and other than some shitty refereeing on the opening day would have 5 out of 5 so far...

Plus you've just done the spuds and you're in the CL. Always looks on the bright....

I don't think the Arsenal squad is that thin, and there is always the January window to get a new striker if one is required.
Ozil is a tremendous player, hopefully his impact will be a galvanising one.

Ozil to Arsenal and Sessignon to WBA are the two top signings of this window.
Happy enough about Fellaini.

So you would be happy for Nicklas Bendtner, a player who publicly admitted to never wanting to play for Arsenal, lead our attacking line this season?
If Giroud were to get injured it is that or a player who has spent 80% of his professional career injured and is 20 years old, with very little experience.
Yes Theo or Poldi could play there but we obviously wanted a striker, so why didn't we get one?
We have 3 recognised CB's - all three of them have had serious injuries in their time at the club.
We have a midfield with one player over 6ft and he has been injured constantly for 7 years (picking up around 20m in the process!) and all of them are heavily injury prone.I can think of 3 other similar teams who only brought in one major signing: Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
Our fully fit first team is on par with a lot of teams. My issue is that come middle of November, what will it look like.

You better believe it, that was the best weekend of football for a long time! spurs have this special ability to seem absolutely about to do something well, then fall flat on their face every time... It really is great to watch from an Arsenal point of view.

Time for some of the youngsters from the much vaunted youth set up to step up?
Bentdner is history, but his wages mean the club are lumbered with him so they should make him an offer based on the rest of his contract and move him on.

Bendtner is a twat and can do one. Yeah we're light but we offered a lot of money for a lot of strikers, if other teams won't sell at our (Wenger's) valuation what are you going to do?

Isn't it about time that Wallcott was brought from the youth into the senior set up? How long does he remain a youth prospect rather than a finished article?

Hah, Walcott should have stepped up 3 years ago. He's now only a mediocre threat, if he had decent control he'd score twice as many goals

Andy, we kept Bendtner at the club, having agreed to send him out to palace after we failed in a bid for Demba Ba.
I'm happy with Ozil and Im positive about how we will do this season. Im just left thinking that with a little more foresight, we could have brought 2/3 more bodies in earlier, had them gel with them team and really given it a go.
At least I'm not David Moyes.

Politely disagree with you. The only creativity he will bring is in terms of hair flair and different ways to break opponents eye sockets without the ref seeing.
There is a very obvious theme emerging over the last 3 years - very few top players want to sign for man u. Its impossible to ignore.
The only way to stem this is to hope that youth development results in world class players. This for me is something utd at least have the potential to do. Nani, Hamburger Anderson, Cleverley and Valencia are average at best. Moyes needs to gets his nuts out and play Zaha and others rather than the predictable shite (marked with very very occasional brilliance - sun shines out of a dogs arse once in a while) that you get with the others.
No goals at OT at chelski, nothing against the true red scum. I have absolutely no expectations of this season, other than it being the most competitive and entertaining for years.

It's his reading of the game that is suspect, technical ability is fine. His constant failure to pick up any of Giroud's flick-ons or knock-downs on Sunday was the perfect demonstration of this.He is still learning, and will be for a long time yet.
