Some teams have got balls and nous when it comes to transfer dealings (incoming and outgoing) and for now Spurs lacked a little of that when the chips were down on the table in the case of Willian.
Jesus, you keep adding to this. The real example of "nous" here is us not giving in to agents upping prices and wages, as soon as they see someone interested. Chelsea's approach has always been one of "pay what they want and worry about the ROI later".

I guess Ajax saw past the £500k plus £12m when they reach the CL offer then.

@jaw and Nesbit,
Was listening to football weekly on Tuesday and fernando duarte was of the opinion that it was never a straight transfer battle between spurs and Chelsea for his signature, abramovich made a personal intervention with the anzhi owner, agents and advisers pushed Willian in the direction of Chelsea, and also Chelsea had been interested in the player and made offers over the last couple of transfer windows. Not so much as Tottenham being outbid as Chelsea having more strings to pull to get what they want.
Proof will be in the performance pudding, and if lamela works out to be as good or better then Willian then I'll be happy, he cost less and is younger, so its swings and roundabouts..

Ive heard that the two deals offered to Willian were exactly the same.
He is a chelsea fan and has been tweeting his support for chelsea over the past few years.
Plus in his first chelsea interview he said that we were always his first choice (obvz hes gonna say that but still)

Someone piss on your Frühstück this morning?
Nah, just that herring muncher was someone I'd have liked to see at Liverpool.
Oh well, you are welcome to him..

In other news, I make it two weeks since the wetlip made his last comment about Spurs supporters and just under two weeks since the forum dictatorship banned him.
Time to hide behind the curtains and pretend we have all gone out?

Wenger will start making sensible offers at around 11:15 pm if past history teaches us anything.

The fact that football seasons have started everywhere and trades can still be done reads like a bad joke.
Bro, you keep focusing on the price of the player, it's not just about that. Any player from Anzhi is gonna come with a great big whopping wage bill, which is why, truthfully, if anyone should worry about their wage bill and FFP eligibility, it should be you :)
