Mancini's never looked convincing. City have never had a discernible method to their play; beyond just relying on creativity in the final 3rd.

Not true, they were superb for most of last season. Solid at the back, creative in midfield and dangerous up front. Mancini's tinkering / poor man management / Kompany's loss of form has undermined this.

I wasn't saying they have never played well, rather they don't seem to have had any strategic direction. Last year Mancini often turned to bringing on De Jong to free up Silva, Y. Toure with success, but now what does he do when shear skill doesn't produce goals?
