Also would Abramovic go back to Mourinho? Re-hiring is admitting he made a monumental mistake.
Mourinho will be the only available manager this summer of the calibre that Aramovic yearns for. I also believe it is widely known that they have since patched up their relationship and are back on "speaking" terms. IIRC Roman bought him a Ferrari after he was sacked.
I cannot but agree with Clive's views on Benitez, nothing he has done during his 2 months in charge show that the team are on an upwards curve in terms of form. The defence is still as erratic as ever (Chech's injury period would have had some effect on that) and Torres is still shockingly poor.
The best scenario that Chelsea can now hope for is that they get 2 people from Madrid (Falcao and Mourinho) and offload one to Madrid (Torres). You'd think that Mourinho has learnt his lesson and doesn't continue poking apposition coaches in the eye, that's the one trait that I truly despise.
Signing Ashley Cole up for 2 more years with Bertrand as an understudy should also be higher up the priority list and whilst we're at it.
Benitez should also pack his bags and go on a deserved holiday to Syria, perhaps his defensive tactics and zonal marking can help out the insurgents over there, he's free to take Emenalo on that trip as well.

What's the bets that Chelsea try to poach Laudrup from Swansea?
-
• #74055
Loin, would Conte want to move on from Juve, they've only just got back to the european promised land, and after his 6 month suspension, you'd have thought he'd want to show a bit of loyalty to them.
what about Laurent Blanc, I know he didn't set the world alight during his french stint, but I know I got giddy at the possibility of him coming over to Spurs before we got AVB. He's enough of an authoritarian to lay down the law when required, but also able to coach up players see his success at Bordeaux, and he's used to being at big clubs, and he's relatively young..
-
• #74056
Also follow on from MikeC would Laudrup take on the Chelsea job, again like Conte feels a bit ungrateful, apart from Brondby his first managerial job, he hasn't been at a club for whatever reason for longer than a season. I'd have thought he'd want to see out his two year deal with swansea and take it from there, show he's not a half/one season wonder and build on the progress he's made, and maybe even get them into a european spot..
-
• #74057
Yes I didn't say Laudraup would go though, but an approach would not surprise me.
The bright lights of London and a chance to manage a bigger club than Swansea may appeal to him. -
• #74058
Why?
I hate all this "I expect a manager/player to See out his contract and not shop himself for better". If they continue to do a job for their current employer but attract interest from "better" employees, they should go. The club are doing the same. -

^Its true Conte is likely to stay at Juve - they are in many ways his club but I think he is the sort of manager that Chelsea need - Laurent Blanc similarly. Some to lay the fucking law down.
-
• #74062
Chalfie, I don't expect any manager or player to see out their contract if more money/bigger club comes calling, but sometimes it seems as if everyone grabs that first opportunity when it it is swung in front of their faces, and they don't expect another one to come along.
If you're good enough and you keep succeeding they'll come back. I personally didn't think AVB should have left Porto, just like I don't think Klopp, if Chelsea swing money at him should leave Dortmund, and Laudrup shouldn't leave Swansea, you've still got time on your side and if you are winning and moving forward why the burning rush to jump into a frying pan from which it might take a long time to recover if it goes south.

I cannot believe that Pisti missed the chance to have another dig about his second favourite club, who are now competing with, and losing against, the likes of Southampton in the transfer market.

We took him on trial, Moyes didn't fancy him...no hidden agenda
Do you really think any player with any kind of ambition would choose Southampton over Everton?

Ocean Village vs Albert Dock. Tough choice.

I also notice there's no mention on his comment about Man U controlling the press over here.. picked and choosen from his interview

I don't think they were on the table at the time but as you say same goes for us.. hence the trial. Apparently his form had really improved but I guess we'll find out how he gets on at the saints

So he would be a player making his decision on apartment and surroundings rather than footballing ambition??
Fuck me, Middlesbrough and Hull would have no players if that was the case!?
Besides, Liverpool pisses all over Southampton as a city anyway

.
Klopp would be mad to go to Chelsea. And he won't go there.
I think Conte could do a good job at the Bridge - managing Juve has given him a pretty thick skin.
A major problem with Chelsea is the deficiencies within their squad - I spoke about it at the start of the season, when I boldly proclaimed Arsenal would be the top team in London. They have signed one first team squad ready non-attacking player in the last year. They shipped out Meireles, Essien and Drogba and now Lampard - physically they are totally lacking in their current guise. Ramires is having to play as a defensive midfielder, rather than a box-to-box engine - whilst David Luiz wanders all over the place, totally unstructured.
AVB tried to get rid of the old guard in his tenure and was castigated for it - hung out to dry and sacked. RDM embraced them and won the ECL. Benitez is stuck between a rock and a hard place, in terms of strategy.
In reality they are probably 3 signings away from being perfectly capable to compete with both the Manchester teams and safely regain their mantle as the top team in London.
