Nesbit is just a bitter tottenham fan still moping about being absolutely fucking mullered at wembley

Fair play Chealsea, that was an awesome goal and quite the result.

lpg - I think we can agree on Arteta, if only he moved on to a decent club 3 seasons ago. As for the Fabregas, I don't think it's necessarily a dig at Wenger but more like a bit of self criticism saying that he has matured and a better understanding about football tactics and this kind of sums up the problems that Arsenal, and many other English teams, have. They're technically and tactically so far behind some of the other nations. When you have a couple of good forwards who can bang in the goals regardless of how you play than it's easily disguised.
When you have a shift in style, like we are experiencing now, where teams are playing possession football than the shortcomings will be all the more obvious.
This is exactly why I like football so much, it's cyclical, playing styles develop, evolve and get adapted, teams and countries will dominate and a few years later it will all change again.
Listen to the transcript. It was damning assessment of his time at Arsenal. That is also the reason that I still have lingering thoughts to Rafa. One of the few managers that clearly understood how to play opponents on the continent and also not to cow-tow to the media led 'play Gerrard in the middle' nonsense.

Finally well done Chelsea. Didn't think you had it in you. Everything you needed to do, you did though I can't see the opposition being as profligate next week (depending on how they get on in el classico). Just wish there was a ref intelligent/brave enough to add the 17mins that Drogbreath wasted humping the pitch. Either way enjoy it.

That was a nerve wracking but hugely enjoyable evening.
RDM deserves huge credit for his strategy and the players for implementing it. The goal was breath-taking. Lampard's pass, Ramieres' cross, Drogba's finish.
Poor refereeing and the lino on our side had a shocker. Ref fell for every dive by Messi.
Drogba was the right choice to head the line and played out of his socks. Even the pauses he obtained by staying down whenever he was fouled worked well and gave some respite.
Barca were not able to get into the penalty area to dive for a penalty and that blew their game plan. Messi was diving five to ten yards out of the box and Cech and the wall worked on each occasion.
Good result. I would have been happy with 0-0 but 1-0 is so much better. More of the same if possible next week but I suspect that the ref will be wise to it and start sending Chelsea players off early. UEFA will get their all Spanish final.

Hello cliveo, hows that for a result.

Well I enjoyed it. To be fair, Barca were probably better than Tottenham.

Just a bit I'd say.
From what I've seen the whole team played an excellent game and stuck to the plan. Not the prettiest way to win a game but the only way for a team like Chelsea's.
Thought that Mikel, Ramires and Cahill were outstanding and Ashley Cole didn't play bad either!

Didn't look like Messi was diving on the telly, he even rode a few heavy challenges in the box.
I did think about how everyone says Messi's a nice guy, and he is, but so is everyone when it suits them. As soon as he lost the ball tonight he was shouting handball and yellow like the rest of them.

Clive....Messy didn't dive for a single thing. Every single foul was called spot on. We obviously had the advantage of tv but believe it my friend, each and everyone was a foul. Not deliberate or dirty, just what happens when the world's greatest player starts weaving. For that reason i thought a couple of the yellows were harsh

An interesting take on it.

Fuck Clive, you won the game, put in an imense diffencive effort and scored an amazing goal. Now all you can do is harp on about how you were still hard done by and how Barca cheated and dived. Granted there is some positive in your post but come on. How can you critisize diving then praise time waisting? Pot? Kettle?
Again, Chealsea, worst winners ever.

It had to end in tears didn't it?

He'd have got away with that post had he mentioned Drogba's antics to balance out the bias - even Tyldesley called first-half injury-time 'Drogba time'. To say that Barcelona were plotting away to gain penalties as their game-plan is risible.

What about the one where he went down with no one near him at all in the first half? Touches of Teddy Sherringham there.
Interestingly, it was Messi who gave the ball to Lampard for the goal.
To be honest, I don't watch much Spanish football but based on tonight, he seems a little overhyped. Isn't he the one who used the growth hormone?

Well they didn't appear to have much else in their game plan did they?

Leo Messi struggles to do it on wet Wednesday shocker. Preening pigeon chested Spanish ballerinas. They don't like it up 'em, they do not like it up 'em.

Sadly it's only half time. Still, we have the away goal advantage in the second half.

^^Which is to your credit. I'd be amazed to read tomorrow in the press of any ill-will between the teams due to negative tactics/stifling/cheating, whatever, so to have a sore supporter over things in spite of the outcome in your favour is a waste of time. I'd rather be celebrating. The result was fair and square. Barcelona tried to equalise without ever resorting to cheating.

Yeah, he was given growth hormones as a child to help him recover from a genetic condition he had.

thankfully the vast majority of Chelsea fans will have seen this game without the Mourinho tinted glasses Clive had on.

It is too early to celebrate. We have played Barcelona eleven times in recent years. They have cheated every time. I cannot believe that they will not cheat and not have UEFA officals cheat for them next week. It is not in their nature. The fact that they have talent, makes their cheating all the more unpalletable. I will celebrate only if we progress. Until then, I shall continue to hold Barcelona in contempt except when they play that even more contemptable team Real Madrid.

I presume you are talking about the ones watching on television. The small minoriity who were actually there would not agree but then they did not have the benefit of the pundits telling them what to think.
