Scholari's problem turned out to be that he was not motivated. £15 million if he succeeded or £15 million if he failed, the difference being that failure brought it sooner. He had won the World Cup. The CL or the PL meant nothing. You could see his lack of motivation and you could see how he failed to motivate the players. At that level, motivation of humungously wealthy but not massively educated young men is the bulk of the job.
Let's hope that Ancellotti can motivate.
In terms of demographics, the real change has been that when I used to go between, say, the ages of 18 and 25, back in the 1970s and early 1980s, the crowd were all the same age as me.
Today they still are.

can't say i care.
but did anyone see Kofi Anan at Wembley... who'd have thunk it?!

Too old and too lazy and ovepaid Clive. that's Chelskis issue.
They pulled together for Gus because 1 - he is a winner and a likeable one - they didn't want to let him down. and 2. he highlighted quite how they let themselves down. easily down when you have to rally the troops for a few games at the end of the season. different over a long stretch. very different

or in early life are you supposed to have taken a beating from the rest of the school for supporting the 'other' team and been chased by home fans running down the cobbled backsteets as a callow youth before you can truly call yourself a fan?
in short, yes.
er. seriously? no.

Sadly he was booed by the Everton fans but made a big hit with the more discerning Chelsea supporters. Better than the Queen or one of her idiot grandsons.

Shut up you dick, such a liar, why would have booed him? The only person I could hear us booing was Howard Webb at the end
-
• #3258
When Kofi's name was announced before the game, Everton fans booed and then sang "Engurland, Engurland". The booing of Webb came from our end.

shakes head
I never heard it.....Besides, Everton hate England(the national team) and in all my years of going to Everton games I have NEVER heard Everton fans sing "Engurland, Engurland". Chelsea on the other hand....
What the fuck has Kofi Annan ever done to anyone let alone Everton and their fans? :-$

They probably confused the UN with UEFA. Easily done.
Before we beat Barcelona at Stamford Bridge in the 4-2 game a few years ago, after Rijkaard had been doing dodgy things with the ref at half time in the away leg, the entire crowd booed the UEFA anthem. That was jolly.

See Gareth Barry's showing ambition, he's just joined Man City
-
• #3262
Indeed he has. Joining a club with ambition and realistic hopes of silverware in the next 5 years, unlike Liverpool.

Thank fuck for that. I would have been upset if we had got rid of Alonso to buy Barry. Alsonso was absolute class this season. Would have been a backwards step in my opinion. We should spend our entire transfer budget on getting the best left full back there is. Since Riise went off the boil and was subsequently sold, it is an area we have been left wanting.
Our midfield works, our strikers work. Lets not fuck about now. Although obviously, Tim Cahill would be a great addition to our squadIndeed he has. Joining a club with ambition and realistic hopes of silverware in the next 5 years, unlike Liverpool.

Tony Adams to Celtic? Imagine that, if you were a Celtic fan, you would have to start thinking of supporting someone else. Seems like some self-serving publicity is going on there

Tell me about it. They can't get him. Surely not.

Given that the only person who has mentioned this rumour is one Mr Anthony Adams MBE himself, I think it's safe to say that it is definitely self-serving publicity. He should seek a job at a Championship or First Division club and learn his trade properly.

Tony Adams + Glasgow nightlife + Buckfast = disaster.
-
• #3271
To be fair to Tony Adams, he would probably be better off with a complete change of career. I wonder if he has thought of estate agency or possibly being a corrupt UKIP politician. I could see him fitting easily into either of those roles.

chelsea might hijack the kaka move
his dad refused to sign him to madrid until they had talked to chelski -

His dad is clearly a wise man.

If you read the gossip column on bbc site, it seems that between them Man City, Madrid and Chelsea are buying every player with 2 legs

our strikers work.
True...but your main one's a bit fragile. Much like your cross town rivals. Between Saha and Torres, Merseyside has the market cornered on glass hamstrings, too bad you sold Owen and Bellamy all those years ago - you could have had all four of the most knack-prone strikers in the league playing in the same city.
I wouldn't mind taking Deco or Joe Cole on loan though
