jacket and snood... what a puff :)
Standing around on a training ground while recovering from injury/injunction is not the same as playing.

How can you tell the difference?

He's wearing a jacket and a snood and is at Cobham not Stamford Bridge.

Wouldn;t it be a laugh is Carroll scored a hat-trick on Sunday and Torres sustained some sort of injury?

It actually makes sense to me.
The new owners and Comolli have said they want to concentrate on young players.
Hence buying Suarez (24) and now maybe Carroll (22). How many other young Premiership strikers are there who we can buy, and are of that level. Not many. Young is more of a wide player, we can't buy any of the top 5 clubs players, doesn't leave many other options.

Mike, the ex-player rule requires Torres to be the scorer of the hattrick.

It would. I want him to do well as it would be a huge boost for England to have a proper striker but 35mill is too much. Remember Bent? We bought him for £25odd mill and he was rubbish. And Bent was at least a proven perm goal scorer over a couple of seasons.
