RVDV has been looking for love and worship ever since he left Ajax. Now he's getting it, I doubt he'll want to let it go in a hurry, and remember he's already been to all the big clubs and been a fringe player.
Tottenham. The graveyard of once great players

That Spurs ref was wank!
Haven't FIFA learnt anything from Scandinavian refs? They're all shiteThis!
for my money, old RVDV is a legend in the making at the Lane.
Least he looks well up for it.
His goal was a fucking peach.
Yes, he then was too fired up to keep calm, but that's the down side of passionate players.
Hopefully his (positive) influence will rub off on some other players.
Somewhat fortunate, yet typically dramatic night at the Lane. He'll rub them up the wrong way, too selfish, it's all about me me me with him.
Huddlestone should've walked. Bale's penalty was the only nailed on one.
The crounch one is a sign of things to come, they've been nagging on about contact in the box for ages, and the guy just rugby talked Crouch. There was no attempt to play the ball. This, Crouch was doing exactly the same thing to the defender no? He does it week in week out, when a ref gives a penalty on one end he should also give it at the opposite end. Consistency is what we're after.
Also how Sebastien Bassong? got away with that chest high challenge in the second half was beyond me.

With Bassong the ball was high too. He hadn't gone flying in, it was an attempt to control the ball.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt (granted you saw it on TV), it happened right in front of where I was standing and it looked like a proper dodgy challenge, it was a boot in the chest you don't see that too often. The only time I've seen someone "get away with it" was Nigel de Jong in the WC final but even he got a yellow card for that challenge.

Really? I watched it and Crouch did just wrestle the guy to the floor. We got very lucky in that game, due to the ref's incompetence. As has been said, the Bale challenge was the only penalty that realistically should have been given. If we hadn't been awarded that third one I think the game would have been very different, Twente looked on the up after VdV got sent off, I wasn't too sure how long Tom could hold out the midfield for (he probably shouldn't have been on the pitch after the elbowing thing, luck again through bad ref). Was nice to us return to the 4-4-2 as well. We did show a slight lack of depth in midfield due to them having the 5th man in the middle of the pitch, but having Pav and Crouch together made a difference as neither are capable of playing the lone striker role. In summary, we made some good plays, as did Twente, but the referee was a bit of an idiot. Scoreline should've been 2-1. Maybe even a draw.

^spot on, fair and honest assesment.

Same, now lets do the same in the premiership. I keep feeling like we care more about the Champions League at the moment. Not wise.

Yeah it's almost like the club has just admitted that Man City have too much money and there won't be any CL for us next season. Weak.
