mikec, did you actually read the whole quote, what part of this is defeatist
"Listen, we have to work very hard to win our games," said the Fulham boss. "I can't stand here and say at the moment that our team is on a par with Manchester United because everyone knows it isn't, but we'll give it our best shot.
"**We'll work very hard, but the Liverpools and the Chelseas who are chasing Manchester United can't really expect that much of Fulham and think we'll beat Manchester United for them.
"Those teams chasing must be realistic. **The lead is still four points and Manchester United have a game in hand, which could stretch the lead to seven points, and seven points is a massive gap. I think everyone will realise the chance is slim."sometimes football supporters can be so blinkered, yeah you want to win the championship, but don't place your desire for the win to make it out that everyone will do everything for your opponents so they can win instead of you...

I am very blinkered it is true. I don't think Liverpool will win the league this year as I cannot see us winning all of our remaining games.
But I do not think other managers should be commenting on other teams. Fulham should be focusing on themselves and Man Utd. And what a positive result will mean for them.
Its like when Steve Bruce, after holding us at Wigan said. 'I bet Alex Ferguson will be pleased with that result' I mean WTF? Why, whats it got to do with him? Shocking remark.
Again, you would not hear a manager like Wenger saying that. Could you imagine? -

mikec, he was asked a question he answered, maybe you should wondering why the question was asked in the first place and what response the questioner was looking to get...
rather than berating hodgson for answering honestly and truthfully, what everyone else can see clearly..
Fulham have to work hard to beat the teams around them, let alone the ones in the top four... -

all words and letters.. end of the day Liverpool don't have the squad and Utd know how to keep the pressure on. Utd had a bad day at the office and Gerrard and golden boy did everything right. its one game and i'd put money on Utd bouncing on further than Liverpool

mikec, hodgson's a good manager, no one is in anyone's pocket, don't let your desire for liverpool to win the title get in the way of a manager saying its been a long season, my players are tired, I've got a small squad and we're only playing for the money in terms of a position, so don't base your title challenge on us turning over your opponents.
better that Liverpool should have beaten the sides they were supposed to beat than giving Hodgson shit for not acting like its the biggest games of their lives and that their careers are on the line.
+1

Liverpool beat Utd quite comprehensively on Saturday (revel in your victory) and still you have to whine about Utd cheating and having other teams/managers in their pockets. Dull, Dull, dull. When will you accept the fact that if Liverpool don't win the league its because they just weren't good enough over the season.
All managers have a go at other clubs, it goes on at all levels of the game and as for Wenger he's only quiet because Arsenal aren't fighting for top spot.

I have accepted that. I said so above. It just makes the results against Boro, City, Stoke etc all the more dissapointing. We have never done so well against the top teams as we had this season. But we go and lose to the mid-table/releagation fodder instead. Its depressing.
I stand by what I say though. Too many managers that seem to have Uts best interests at heart, as well as that of their own teams.

Spurs are a bit like that. Havent lost to a sky big 4 team all season despite this being our worst ever season. We even beat the then top of the league team twice in one week. ;)

He said in a post match interview that United were the better team. Either he had a knock on the head or he has an acute dose of wengeritis (a debillitating but temporary loss of sight).
