  • I'm sorry but I'd be gutted if we had him, he's wank - he makes Beattie look world class

  • Sorry Andy, Bentner is the worst striker in the Prem since Adi Akinbeye

He has been painful to watch..but saying that I'm going to give him another season and a half in the hope that he might be able to finish from one of the many good positions he gets himself in. We need a big man. I doubt wenger will buy one. So hopeful some training might work well. He does have an odd attitude though, which troubles me.

  • Bollocks to it.

I think that's just about enough 'saving it for the sharp end' now.

Three wins : Utd, 'pool and Toffees, followed by a nice easy run in - and we're back in the mix.

  • Bendtner gets in the positions and isn't afraid to shoot which shows he has bottle, awareness and works hard.
Once he gets his composure in front of goal he will be deadly. Sadly Eduardo and Arshavin make him look Rymans league!

Still we are a few players short but i'd settle for second and the european.. ah Villa so the slide begins!

  • /\ Haha!

Sorry Villa, as a Spurs fan I very rarely get the opatunity to gloat. I still hope you finish 4th though.

  • Anyway,
before I was sidetracked by Andyp's disparaging comments about spurs fans attitude to youth, I was going to say, wasn't Arshavin a revelation on saturday, busy, precise, always dangerous, and a goal that reminded me of kanu's shot from the byline for arsenal against chelsea. He looked class! I'm gutted Spurs didn't get him when we put in our bid over the summer, and then Zenit holding out for more money from us and playing hardball, got screwed by Arsenal for less, during the jan transfer window, when it was obvious Arshavin would never play for them again....

plus on a related spurs note, it seems we could have had quaresma for bentley during the transfer window, so a proper left sided midfielder/winger to give us balance and getting shot of the underperforming right footed/being kept out of the side by Lennon Bentley, but Levy stuck his oar in asking for money, rather than a straight swap, and Quaresma's agent took him to Chelsea..

Just shows Levy's in it for the money and not the football...

  • He was the best player at Euro 2008 and Arsenal are the perfect team for him as they suit his style. With Walcott and Eduardo back, Fabregas coming and him in the team I hope Arsenal can finish the season well.

His English is excellent too so he'll settle in quickly.

  • i reckon he just needs to convert that bit of fat to muscle and he'll last the 90mins better

  • Just shows Levy's in it for the money and not the football...

Levy is a complete dick. But saying this he wants to make you profitable. This mean a spanking stadium that could possibly match the emirates or be a little bit better. This will allow you to compete with the top teams and attract the bigger boys and retain your best players. When you lost Carrick that's when you took so many steps back. Need old spurs to beat Chelsea,United, Everton & Liverpool so arsenal don't look so far behind please.

  • gormley, levy's the one that sold on Carrick. From the guardian podcast, but supposedly Carrick was happy, ready to stay went into contract negotiations, asking for a bit more money, spurs best player, fulcrum of team and all that, Levy thought he was asking for too much, got offer from ManU sells on for big profit.
When profit comes before building a good team, then your in the wrong business, balance the books by all means, invest wisely in a larger stadium, but don't sell your best players if you don't have to. Carrick was our best player and he sold him when he didn't have to or need to, just for the money. He and Harry should get on like a house on fire...

  • Calm down corny. Everything will be alright, because, one day, maybe not today, maybe not next year, but one day. Our savior will retune and lead us to glory. When that happens I will be stood on the new shelf singing: He's got no hair but we dont care, Martin, Martin Jol.

  • mobster, I'm fine, just perturbed that our transfers seem to be designed to make money rather than making the team better...

but yeah with Jol doing so well in Germany 4th in the league on goal difference, four points off top spot, and on the same points as 2nd and 3rd. It kind of rubs me the wrong way all the issues he had with the squad, still haven't been resolved and we've taken giant steps backwards rather than forwards and are even further away from making the champions league.

question do you think with spurs only four points off seventh, that Harry will make a push for european action next year, or just settle for mid table obscurity so he can dismantle squad and bring in as many money spinners as possible..

  • I think he will make a push for europe. He is a dodgy chap but I think he is a good manager and wants some proper sucsess to end his carrier with. I am not sure if he will get that with Spurs or not but I think he will try. As strainge as it sounds looking at our position at the moment (and our team) we are the best chance Arry has for some proper sucsess.

  • "Fulham take on Manchester United on Saturday but boss Roy Hodgson has told Liverpool and Chelsea not to "expect too much" from his side as the pair hope for a favour in their bids to try to catch the Premier League leaders. (Daily Mirror)"

Says it all really. In other words Hodgson is in Fergies pocket and he doesn't want to upset him. Disgraceful talk. You would not here Wenger, or even Moyes for example saying crap like this.
    Pull your fucking finger out!

  • +1.

I'd be shat off if that was my manager talking like that.

  • mikec, hodgson's a good manager, no one is in anyone's pocket, don't let your desire for liverpool to win the title get in the way of a manager saying its been a long season, my players are tired, I've got a small squad and we're only playing for the money in terms of a position, so don't base your title challenge on us turning over your opponents.

better that Liverpool should have beaten the sides they were supposed to beat than giving Hodgson shit for not acting like its the biggest games of their lives and that their careers are on the line.

  • Hardly makes you wanna go and watch the match knowing that your team aren't gonna try and win.

  • course they're going to try but he's telling everyone else not to get their hopes up, what is this?
can't a manager be realistic in their approach to a match without everyone screaming bias, and come on graham, if moyes fielding an under12 side in a no mark friendly, if you had a ticket and you were in liverpool, you'd go and see them, its part and parcel of being a fan, and I'm pretty sure fulham fans are realistic enough to know that the team will try their hardest but are unlikely to turn over two of the big sides challenging for the title...

  • But by saying what he's said he's giving off a defeatest attitude to his players and the fans - stupid thing to say if you ask me. Whatever happened to "We're gonna give it our best shot, everyone'll give 100% and we'll try and batter the Mancy twats!"?

  • full quote from the mirror Pisti take note...
you've got quote bingo as the magic words we'll give it our best shot is included..

Hodgson believes he already knows the answer and isn't giving his side much hope of getting anything against United, who walloped Fulham 4-0 in the FA Cup at Craven Cottage just nine days ago.
"Listen, we have to work very hard to win our games," said the Fulham boss. "I can't stand here and say at the moment that our team is on a par with Manchester United because everyone knows it isn't, but we'll give it our best shot.
"We'll work very hard, but the Liverpools and the Chelseas who are chasing Manchester United can't really expect that much of Fulham and think we'll beat Manchester United for them.
"Those teams chasing must be realistic. The lead is still four points and Manchester United have a game in hand, which could stretch the lead to seven points, and seven points is a massive gap. I think everyone will realise the chance is slim."

  • shit how bad would it be to overhaul utd only for chelski to do us

    Ha!

It would almost be enough for me to hang myself.

    And ha!

Agreed, Fulham will try and win sure, but really who expects them to? I'd put money on the scum bouncing back and butchering fulham... that's a bet I'd like to lose money on.

Still 6 points off the scum is awesome, also matching those points with goals is very pleasing indeed

  • I agree that Liverpool should have done more. If we had beaten Boro and Man City at home we would be top now and things would look oh so different. That fact is we didn't

But for Hodgson to install this defeatist attitude into his players before a ball has been kicked, well. You may as well give the scum all 3 points now and save the fans a load of money and time.

  • next season ?

  • He is just trying to lull the mancs into a false sense of security. each one of those players will want to make up for that 4 nil ass spanking through pure pride. i think it will be a tight match - look what happand when Rooney and Fergie rubished Liverpool??
