I'd say that this is my favourite blend right now. Not that I'm huge on spirits but it's such an enjoyable drink.
+1 on Guatemalan and Nicaraguan rums.

will look into it, looking for some Martinique rum, remember having a discussion with @DDM (dunwich destroyed me) and was supposed to get a bottle of amazing Martinique rum, from him, which never happened.
And also want to get some of the Ron Zacapa stuff, had some when I was in australia way back when and it was hella good

will look through that, but not convinced with all the initial talk of spiced rums! That can jog the fuck on!

I had a tasting at the club recently where the Botrans were paired with a nice cuban. The 15 Reserva is also quite special. Botran have some processes that most other rum makers don't use - distilled from first cane pressing, not from molasses and aging at high altitude - that make for something quite different. Certainly better than any of the other island rums. I'll have to pick up a bottle before you come over for dinner.
And now @jaw is going to make me find some Nicaraguan ones too. *sigh

Zacapa is the business!
Ron Agricole is also nice, the outlaws lived in Martinique for two years and always brought back the Trois Rivieres...

My latest tipples. Both Bruichladdich, both single malt and single cask. The one on the right has been matured in a new bourbon cask for 23 years, the one on the left in a new bourbon cask for 9 years but it's quadruple distilled. Tried the 23 year old one so far, and it's damned good. Oh, and I also got a bottle of the Bruichladdich Botanist gin, but I'm out of tonic, so I haven't had that one yet either.

Quadruple distilled? Hmm....not seen that before. I'll have to try that.

Auchentoshan 15 Cadenhead Small Batch at 56.9% is making a most excellent hot toddy. At least having a sore throat has some upsides.
I assume it's this 1999 bottling: https://www.masterofmalt.com/whiskies/auchentoshan/auchentoshan-15-year-old-1999-small-batch-wm-cadenhead-569-whisky/

I got a litre of The Botanist from duty free and then got back and realised that I didn't have any tonic.
I've never seen quadruple distilled whisky! When I went to Auchentoshan they were making a big deal about their triple distilling process. I even found the below spiel on their website
"And it’s also absolutely unique – no other Single Malt Scotch Whisky goes beyond two distillations for every drop."

There is another distillery in Scotland doing triple distillation now, although the name escapes me.
Triple distillation had been the hallmark for Irish whiskey since forever. Given Auchentoshan's location it's not a huge surprise that they were influenced by their neighbours.
They do have a cracking tasting room at the distillery and the open air maturation warehouses do smell so nice.

The reason why you don't see anyone usually doing more than a double distillation is because multiple distillations add expense and doesn't make better whisky.

There are so many factors that go into what ends up in your glass - the number of distillations being only a small part of that.
Speaking of rum, have you ever had anything by Botran? Amazing. As a whisky and bourbon drinker I would easily add this to my cabinet and drink is neat.
