  • Got given a new years pressie yesterday.
    Bain's Cape Mountain single grain.

I kinda forgot how smooth drinking it was. It's either the memories or just a really decent drinking whisky.

  • I like Bruichladdich. I managed to try most of their range after going on their brewery tour. They even cracked out the Octomore, which was pretty generous of them. The Botanist gin that they produce is also really nice.

  • It's v good - I've never bought a bottle though. Now you've got me thinking...

  • I was perusing the Glenfarclas 10 (speyside) and the store really recommended the 15, though think it was about £45. What I'm really saying is I want Glenfarclas 15.

  • A 20cl Dalwhinnie 15 (Highland) is currently available on Amazon for £13, reduced from £20. Proper cork too, not a screwtop. Pretty dece price if you want to sample a very good whisky without breaking the bank. They also have the 70cl for £35, which is great value.

  • good shout, I know the 10 year one and it's a nice whisky. Maybe I should try the 15.

  • Dialled in my old fashioneds last night with some Makers Mark.

    Feeling it this morning.

  • The Mrs got me a bottle of Glenlossie 10 year old for Christmas, It's the only single malt they do as most of their output is for Diagio's blended whisky. Had it when I was in Scotland back in August, it really is a cracking Speyside.

  • I've just been bought a bottle of Dalwhinnie for my birthday. I was hinting for that or Highland Park so glad it came through.

@mashton Not a big fan of MM but quite partial to an old fashioned. I was bought a bottle of Jack Daniels Honey infused so not sure how I feel about that ....

  • Risked buying this Kilchoman in Gatwick on the way home for Christmas. Gamble that payed off big time.

I love Islay's and this is in my favourites now along with The standard Lagavulin, Laphroaig and Ardbeg.

Very new distillery, anyone else tried it?

I quite liked the Port Charlotte but wouldn't get it over the others.

  • My friends are doing the Burns night tonight and if you're not adverse to 50% off your meal and a good monday night out drinking then come along to this at Bourne and Hollingsworth.
Only down side is I'll be there.

    ====================================================
See below a link where you can buy tickets for a discounted rate for our Burns Night on Monday

    https://ticketporte.com/event/9345-be9d-1ebb-569387c0/f412-3cd8-31ec-5693884c

I'd buy the whiskies on arrival at 6:30 (not discounted, but apparently you get a cocktail and 5 whiskies) and then the dinner from 8:30 (this is a 50% saving).

  • got gifted a bottle of the Irish peated whiskey Connemara - gut feeling was 'last minute gift at airport shop tourist tat' - how right I was, bloody awful - like sugary water with random peat/smoke added afterwards - avoid!!

  • Bah, failed to organise a burn's night do again. @mands that looks amazing.

Currently enjoying an Arran 10. Don't think I've gotten the best out of it yet (too cold when I tried it), but seems promising.

  • Finally got around to opening a bottle of Woodford Reserve I got as a present, don't think it's going to last long. Absolutely delicious.

  • Got some of that for Christmas a couple of years ago, wasn't expecting much but it's really rather good.

Bottle of Eagle Rare 10yr old in the post today, will report back.

  • It's very tasty. The 17 y/o Eagle Rare is just astonishing

  • I missed this old news and didn't stock up in time. A travesty. It' going to be a long three years.

  • The Arran 10 is really good. Their distillery is also beautiful and set in excellent riding country. Take a trip.

The Talikser Port Ruighe is the nicest thing I've drunk in a while. If you like a wanky cask finish.

Watch out for Indian whiskeys, they are mostly grain spirit flavoured with caramel.

  • Bindian Bhiskey?

  • Just treated myself to a bottle of Evan Williams single barrel vintage 2003/2013. Looking forward to cracking it open later on

  • After watching too many episodes of Moonshiners I really want need a jar of this...

  • just brought a bottle of this for the OH's brother's birthday, as he got me a nice bottle of rum for mine. Reciprocal alcohol buying.
