  • Have you tried adding some named drivers? I added both my parents and it dropped my premium by around £100.

For context, £350pa on a £2k 2010 fiesta. Licence 10yrs, 7rs NCB, £100 excess, Hastings, sourced through compare the market.com

  • I'll give that a try thanks, I'd need their licence numbers yeah?

I will play with the mileage figure too. More miles might mean less cost?

I didn't on comparethemarket, just DOB, years driving, and details of any driving fines or insurance claims.

  • @rhb Blimey, that's just plain crazy!

Gary Moulson at Keith Michaels Insurance Brokers has sorted all my car insurance for about 20 years. I might pay a few quid in commission to them but it's pretty painless (apart from getting through on the phone as they are mad busy)

  • Thanks both @pifko & @midlife, I guess a broker might be a good shout too. I'll give the meerkat a nudge too.

  • Any car insurance experts here .
No fault accident , where my insurance dealing with it , and now saying they will refuse to fix car( claiming there was pre- existing repair in same area ), and instead offering a settlement and telling em to get it fixed . Does not sound right and not sure what to do - 1. insist they fix it? / 2. ask for more money to cover unseen eventualities and my time ? /3. get in contact with the insurance company of car who did the damage ? / 4. complain somewhere ??

  • Get into contact with other party's insurance company. They have an obligation to make good.

  • The insurance are trying to get you on "betterment" I expect. Doesn't really apply in this case as a repair is needed. Whether there was a repair there before usually doesn't make much difference..... Unless you are angling for something like a complete respray for example.

  • Thanks both . Talking to other persons insurance company is the plan I think .

  • Escalate an official complaint with your insurance company. It's the only way to get them to listen.

    Insurance companies are complete shits.

  • Thanks all .
