  The insurance are trying to get you on "betterment" I expect. Doesn't really apply in this case as a repair is needed. Whether there was a repair there before usually doesn't make much difference..... Unless you are angling for something like a complete respray for example.

  I'm a rider from the 70's so that frame is on the modern side for me but I admire the quality :) italienate seat stay cluster always a sign of a very classy frame. Elegant forks finish off a really nice piece of frame building .

  When people have run into me I just tell my insurance company. Then follows "release the hounds" as a claims company steps in and they try and screw as much from everybody from hire cars to body shop.

  I assume they are on some sort of percentage?

  Sure is an odd mix of old and new (ish) frame features. Forks don't match and doubt if the decals are correct. I don't recognise it as a Condor from my era

  Mercian made frames with extended lugs but nothing Mercian springs to mind.

  Give Lamona their due, the instructions explicitly say do not use silicone, seems counter intuitive but it's there in writing as I checked.

  Yep, looking to get one that can have full power all zones, should be OK as it has its own circuit.

  Yep, some sort of gasket that came with it, Lamona say the silicone bead stops the glass from expanding and contracting causing it to break

  Not going to get too stressed, Was going to get a new one as with more than one area on highest power reduces the power on the others.

  Something I never knew about until reading on here. Going to get one that goes turbo on several areas.

  On the subject of induction hobs ours cracked with quite a loud noise a couple of weeks ago

  Only cheap (Lamona) but we claimed on the guarantee but it looks like the claim will be rejected as the induction job was siliconed in by the kitchen fitter

  Apparently a no-no to put a small bead of silicone when fitting …
