Dredge...Any help appreciated.
I live in central London, my car is kept at my ex wifes place in east London. Do all policies insist on policy holder address and place where car is kept to be the same? I get option to change location (garage, street etc) but my current provider insists location and policy holder address are the same. Any advice appreciated -

I have two cars. One is insured and kept at my house. The other is in my name but insured and kept at my parents house.
But some insurers do not like this and some (like me second insurance company) need the alternative address to be within a certain distance of the owners primary address.

Thanks for this.
I'm gonna try Adrian Flux this morning as almost all other providers will not entertain different locations due to (potential) insurance fraud -

Insurance has gone mad this year.
I'm with Flow who are a sub brand for LV.
None of the big names seem to be even remotely competitive any more. LV for example wanted more than double than my flow renewal.

Never take your renewal quote!
That said, for the first time ever, my renewal quote is cheaper than any price comparison website alternative.
Also, you clearly need a shittier car.

The cheapest quote I can find for our potential new car is £595.
Sounds fine apart from it's a Skoda Citigo which is insurance Group 2! I think our new postcode is f***ing us though.

I've just started looking as mine is up at the end of the month.
Was with ByMiles this year which worked well given my lack of miles (it charges a flat fee and then something like 3.5p per mile, capped at 150 miles in a day) and will be about £320 for the year.
Waiting on their renewal quote but the only other quote that comes anywhere near that is Hastings You Drive which seems to be an annoying one where you need a phone app that assesses your driving.

Yeah the car element clearly doesn’t help it’s parked on the street, but we do about 5,000 miles a year I’d guess. It’s with 8 years no claims but that doesn’t seem worth the paper it’s written on lol

At that mileage I'd have a try with ByMiles (although they don't seem to cover everyone, not sure what their criteria are).
-
• #164
I’ll give them a go, down to about 1800-2200 at present.

Honestly I think NCB are worth a few quid. If you run the quote through a price comparison with and without it, it doesn't make much difference.
The thing that does make a huge difference is declaring a claim or accident, even if it's not your fault. My partner is clean but I had a bump in 2020 and that's the killer.

Hmm, have just got my renewal quote from ByMiles. Increased from 3.7p per mile to 26.1p per mile!
Obviously won't be renewing that but everything else also looks extortionately expensive apart from some Hastings Direct telematics jobba which has terrible reviews.

Somebody reversed their wankpanzer into our boot in the school car park. The alarm went off for what felt like an hour, then I noticed it's our EVwanker car and I stopped it from my phone. As seen in the rear dashcam footage, they didn't even get out to check the damage, and they didn't need to reverse at all to be able to exit their spot. I don't want to be more cunty than necessary but surely this needs a special kind of treatment?
Damage wise, it's just a dimple in the boot lid on a single place on the left. But it's a lease car on my ltd so I can't just take it to a random bodyshop and hope for the best, especially since the car is less than 3 months old. This morning I drove to school but couldn't see the driver (we know the kid by passing, no idea about the parents) and didn't get an email/phone from the school or him so I started the claim process on Admiral, didn't want to be too late for it. Didn't file a police report (yet) but I might tonight (wondering if I'll have their details by tonight then it will be easier) any recommendations on how to proceed?

I would not raise with police (highly likely they won't do anything or could create a inflammatory situation with the other party), but if you are confident enough to, raise directly yourself with the other party what has happened and that an insurance claim will follow.

Need a new car, so looking at insurance options. The lowest is one which requires you to share driving data analytics. Normally I'd pass, but it's £130 cheaper p.a than the cheapest non-data policy 😢
Is this a real pain to use? I don't always have the phone on me, I don't always have great signal where I am and my phone's battery isn't great at the best of times...

I used to have one of these with bymiles and it was fine. It worked on a dongle plugged into the car and only used the milage.
When I came to renew there was one where you had to share analytics with admiral or Hastings or someone that was a lot cheaper.
Reviews were absolutely terrible though. Phone had to be on with Bluetooth on for every journey. Things like the sat nav on your phone or someone else using your phone would impact your score (this was a concern for me) as would anything other than perfect, by some unknown measures, driving.
The real deal breaker for me though was lots of people complaining they had it for a couple of months and then had their insurance terminated. I've no doubt plenty of them were shit drivers but I didn't want to risk that hassle.

That's really helpful thanks, I've just been on Google play store and read a few reviews of the Hasting Youdrive app 😳 That's a hard pass from me

Used the Admiral car dongle few years back, no complaints (it didn't have a phone/bt/sync requirement) and they wanted the dongle back after a few (maybe 4?) months of data.

£500 to insure 53 plate Berlingo at mo.... Opportunity to get an 08 plate VW estate to replace it. Best quote £800 for just me to be insured. Partner having lessons on provisional. Quote with current insurer was £1500 for just me, £2500 to have partner insured too. Am I going to find all quotes will skyrocket similar? We only use car at weekends (Deli Counter entry quote) so £100+ to £200+ a month to park it up mostly seems excessive.
Is confused dot com still the best (time spent vs quote saving) place to get quotes?

Slightly confused, is it £800 or £1500 to get the VW estate insured just for you?
-
• #175
Quote with current insurer was £1500 for just me (via current insurers website)
Best quote £800 for just me (actually also current insurer, but via confused dot com)
