Plus it's fun and I've always wanted a Krooked.
I've skated pretty much nothing else but my Zig Zagger for the last 3 years and I love it. The difference between it and a nylon banana board like the ones being toted by the short-clad hipsters is that a Zip or a Zig is a wooden board, i.e. none of the daft flex of a banana; it's not a longboard so you can do tricks on it, a la Matty Hunt et al; you can't buy them in Urban Outfitters or a similar outlet, so your money goes towards supporting a) skateboarding and b) Mark Gonzales, so nothing bad about that.

Top draw nostalgia! Think he bagged a few other riders tricks too...difficult to think of many riders that can skate vert, mini and street equally as well....varial japan then a hardflip down a set of stairs? Can't think of many of today's skaters that could do the same. Nice to see the powell warehouse.

First board I ever had was an Alphonso Rawls pro model. He's made quite a name for himself in skate shoe design now as well.

Can anyone please explain to me the resurgence of weird little hipsters in tight jean cut offs riding old school short boards in the banana board style? Who made these popular again? No good for cruising - god knows long boards are pretty useless as you can't get up a curb - but you can at least get pretty gnarley bombing some hills. what is the point of a short board that's not good for speed or tricks?
Kids these days... I don't know.
6" boards are great, my 9yr old kid is loving his. Granted, it's made of ply, and a more useful length. Maybe this resurgance in toy boards could have a positive influence, especially on the machismo of skateboarding. I've seen loads of girls with Penny boards, which can't be a bad thing.
Slalom's gonna be hip soon.

I want the 9-ply, 8.75" beast heavy decks of the mid-late 90's to come back in fashion. Could slide shitty concrete/brick/armco all day long while chewing through the layers without a care in the world... Great times.
Penny boards at least seem to work as a gateway to 'real' skating. No bad thing imo even if they do look daft for the most part. Oh, and you can most certainly get up a curb on em no problem. -

Ishod's been filming a part for the new Nike video as well. 3 full sections in a year, he's not messing around.
