I'm glad Ben Gore has written down what I've been thinking (though my internal monologue was slightly more bmx orientated).
I take for granted how my view of urban environments is always focused on how different structures and buildings could be used by myself or my friends, constantly looking out for new objects or exploring places I've never had the need to be. -

Holy fucking shit, this vid is amazing...
Emerica never disappoint and Westgate is almost inhuman, so burly.

Fucking hell Westgate's section is insanely good. It fitted perfectly with the Explosions In The Sky songs.

Stained blank, used diluted acrylic paint in the end. Trying to get a fade toward the middle.
Cut it down last night, looking pretty sweet. Jigsaw, plane, then rasp. Still some unevenness needs rasping off, then sand, touch up any marks to the staining, and clearcoat. Anyone got any recommendations for what to use? Was going to do homemade grip made of polyacrylic and quartz sand, but I think I'm going to to do oldschool style tape with cutouts.

So many stupid excellent things in this. Is that Don Brider in those clips of the skating puppet?

Certainly looks like him, oh and…

Yeah! And castors instead of trucks & urethane.

I bought this secondhand the other day. Looking forward to getting it and cruising around this summer, especially for short trips where it's not quite long enough for a bike, but too far to walk comfortably.

Can anyone please explain to me the resurgence of weird little hipsters in tight jean cut offs riding old school short boards in the banana board style? Who made these popular again? No good for cruising - god knows long boards are pretty useless as you can't get up a curb - but you can at least get pretty gnarley bombing some hills. what is the point of a short board that's not good for speed or tricks?
Kids these days... I don't know.

Verbs & Nouns - my last post wasn't aimed at you! Read back and realised it looked like it was. But I don't get why you would ride that board compared to a standard modern one?
And that video of kids in high socks cruising about. All fine and good. But put such a lame house track over it and its the lamest thing posted on this thread.
I just paid for the Thrasher video though, so I'm off to readdress the balance.

I got the Zip Zinger because I wanted something I could cruise around on, still ollie on, but I'm not struggling on hard 54mm wheels on rougher surfaces. Plus it's fun and I've always wanted a Krooked. I have a "modern" complete for proper skating, which I don't do much.
As for needing a modern board...

lol
I think after what Danny Way did over a decade ago the helicopter thing was unnecessary - his skating said plenty enough without it. That backside-360-flip go with it was unbelievable amongst many other things.
