Havnt skated in about 4 years. Thinking about returning to it.
Few thoughts. When trying to re-learn old tricks - is there any disadvantage in having mid trucks, rather than low trucks for getting pop?

this park opened last week in the centre of my home town. amazingly built and quite brilliant, never seen anything like it. Jart skateboard team came to the event, Bastien Salabanzi was pretty damn awesome (although sadly not one of the pros used the park to its full breakneck speed pumping flying etc. potential, instead chose just to ride up and down in straight lines)

I don't think I could ever get bored of watching people bomb SF hills on a board.

After watching the 'Original Honey Monster advert' in the WFT?! thread, adverts have come a long way.

Could someone tell me what a no hang-up yoke is and why I might want one please?

If you haven't already seen it you must go watch Emerica Stay Gold. It's bangers from start to finish, from Westgate hitting spots that would look more in place with a bmx in shot to Hsu filming his entire section in switch.
And Chris Ault kills it for the UK team in this.

I knew he was a perfectionist but never knew it was quite that bad. That's a serious level of dedication.

Anyone got any Indy 139s for sale on here?
-
• #692
That's what i ride, but im thinking changing to the 149s.
Do it. So much better than the 139s if you ride a wider board.
Look a load better too. -

Anyone know what sort of hardness of bushing would be stock in the trucks on an early '80s Variflex 10" wide board?
The bushings feel a lot softer than the ones in my other trucks (cheap modern 7.5" Unions) and I like that but I think they have lost some of their liveliness so want to replace them with something similar but I have no idea how I tell what durometer to get.

I'd guess at somewhere between 85-90. Variflex were actually renowned for their Cloud bushings, back in the day. Is the deck a pro-model or have a name on it?

Aye, I've seen mention of Clouds.
It's a Variflex Dead End board, no skater's name on it. Sold as a complete I presume rather than a deck and parts.
Think I'll go for some 90a Deluxe Supercrush's, cheers.
While I'm here, my other board has 56mm OJ Keyframe wheels (which I think are 87a) and seems to roll forever, my Variflex came with Street Rage II wheels which I think are harder (or maybe they have hardened with age?) and felt much slower, it now has a set of Transmissions 62mm 87a wheels which I thought would roll at least as fast as the Keyframe 87a wheels and probably faster since they are bigger but it still feels slower and like it wants to stop rolling quicker. I have Indy abec5s in one and Southstar abec7s in the other, not sure which way around they are the now as I've tried switching them about but to no effect.
Could it just be that the Street Rage wheels were older/harder and that the Transmissions are a bit shit? Should I invest in a decent set of wheels for the Variflex? Think The Keyframes only go up to 58mm but that might do.

After watching 'The Cycle show' on ITV4 I want to be a skateboarder

Hmmm, the 90a Supercushs are about the right hardness (94 mighta been better but they were out of stock) but way smaller than the stock bushings.
I've fitted them to my other board though and it's feeling nice now so they aren't going to waste.

Neither the Street Rage, or the Transmissions (which were the UK equivalent of Variflex) were good in the 80s, so not going to be very good now, I'm afraid. ABEC 11 No Schools would be ideal replacements for a 80s deck (I've got a set), but aren't cheap.

I kinda thought that.
I might have some skate stuff to sell soon (made another purchase on eBay tonight) so I'll see how that goes and treat myself.

Can you do this yet? If you lift, instead of pushing down, into the turn, it'll slow you down. Hopefully this is a bit easier to understand.
