Renew a month before the end of your current policy or move somewhere cheaper for insurance.
Look on mse for advice.

I've just listed my Honda Insight (2011 and 68k miles) for sale here in case anyone is after a small engine car. I've had it for less than a year and a half and it's been brilliant the whole time.
Located SE25
Very ULEZ compliant (unlike my scrappable Ford Connect) and only £10 p.a. to tax.

You appear to be the type of person that would probably end up getting lamped without warning in certain environments…
But this is the internet so who am I to know what you’re really like 👍 -

Says the person poisoning children to save a couple of quid whilst apparently resorting to violence over discourse...

Bang goes my DBS enhanced clearance…

Lol at that edit
Can we just agree that all people who pollute extra on purpose, whether with old cars or by having children, are cunts
-
• #74808
Not as much as the people with wood-burners or fire pits, obvs.

Oh yeah all of it, eating meat, standing on the travelator, boiling a full kettle for one cup of tea
-
• #74811
Jeez, i thought this was the killing the planet appreciation thread...
-
• #74812
Yeah but I enjoyed writing it / thinking it.
Polluting extra = yes . Especially those with diesels who keep the engine running when parked so they can have the air con on. -
• #74813
We are all cunts. It's just a question of degrees.
Am not convinced that people are buying over 40 year old vehicles to avoid ulez. Surely can't be to save on money or deliberately poison the environment if they do.

Fucking love that Merc. Nice one.

Cheers mate! Thinking about getting a clamp for it as its parked on the street..... OTT?
-
• #74817
Not really. Almost/near classics are easily parted out as the parts are hard to come by. Easier to hotwire too.
A near neighbour has s similar age Marc and it always has a steering wheel cover style lock attached.

OTT
Nowadays even people with modern cars have them. A mate had his pickup nicked and parked up, so TBH I'm not sure there's anything you can't steal with ease.

Fit a hidden kill switch or pull the coil lead, would be less hassle. I had a clamp for my bay window camper parked on the street but never used it because it was a faff.
-
• #74820
hidden kill switch also has the potential to do something really cool. mate of mine had one on his old enfield bullet, inside an ammo box mounted on the back
-
• #74821
Haha thats mad! Yeah kill switch is what Ive been told to do a few times, I think ill go down that route as the clamp would just be a faff as it has bulgy hub caps, already got a steering lock on it but conscious that it does absolutely nothing to deter a well trained wantaway.
Do you reckon most garages would be able to give it a go? I'm terrified of electronics

Could be a connection…

• #74823
Oh man, I have a 90s car, Woodburner and fire pit.
At least I don’t travel by private jet
-
• #74824
Just don’t buy a shit new build on an estate, that’s the ultimate sin.
Along with astroturf and plastic white cars. -

Had a day out in Abingdon as my daughters got me a few laps in a Mk1 Lotus Cortina through Car Chase Heroes, not the fastest car by any means but a great grin factor listening to those twin 40's I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Skoda is ins group 13-15, my weedy Ford Ka is ins group 3
Maybe it's the Turbo Stratified Injection moniker?
