  • Anyone know if it would be possible to repair it with the PDR method?
    I don't fancy a respray - especially I paid for a paint sealant only a 3 months ago.

Look at dent removal systems. Its quite good at those things.

  • Set of Borbet As, 16x7.5 front, 16x9 rear. 60/40 lower. Respray in Bronzit Beige Metallic. Retrim seats in tan leather, doorcards and steering wheel in black leather, roof lining in black alcantara. Swap engine for new 320D M-sport engine and gearbox setup. Decent sound system, nothing too ott, something with iPod connection and maybe GPS. New black carpet set, set of beige Coco-Mats over.

All when funds allow obviously but hopefully should see steady progress. By the end of it I'll hopefully have an E30 Touring which is a higher spec than a new 3-Series. ULTIMATE DAILY.

    I really like these Tourings.

    A diesel? eww. How about a nice N54? [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_N54[/ame]
Those original cross-spokes are lovely. There's not enough cross-spoke love these days.
Beige is a bit brave isn't it?

Well you've nothing to lose by trying the hairdryer and can of keyboard compressed air method.

  • Ricky. Nice buy mate.

But I was under the impression that all the Integra R's came in off white?

Anyway, sourced tickets for FOS on Sunday. Ritchie sir, I will see you there. Finally I can see the MG.

  • Maybe, just maybe, my manifold could be finished. If so, might be able to start getting the damn thing back together in the next few weeks.

Probably be done just in time for Autumn. Arse!

  • I will go to Maplins tomorrow and then try the Dent Man guy.
I really don't fancy the whole body shop bullshit - the car was like new only two days ago. Fuuuuuuuuuu!

    The beige is awesome!

I'm all about the diesel love though, my Mum has a new 320D M-sport. Epic drive. I want a daily too and I do about 1,000km a week. 50mpg is pretty enticing.

  • Love the look of that touring Erik, was just looking at a next generation version today.

Mostly been tempted by a project:
    Merc w123 240td estate.
Needs a ton of work, but all the spares are included...
And nothing mechanical really, just some interior replacement, and a new hood

    Any thoughts?

Veg oil and a crazy trip planned for next year...

That or a hilux surf. Need a bigger car than the golf, which is now near perfect.
And though it may be the model that is poorer than the early golfs, it's so damn fun to chuck round devon lanes....

  • Lot's of little things keep going wrong with the Volvo (really stupid little stuff like the door check strap), but it makes me start thinking.

I'd love to drop the turbo-5 into an MG-B, with the M90 box and locker out of a V90.

I'll not be in the mg. Going in a 911, with a e36 and an s3 in convoy. The brockley express may be slightly out of it's depth.

    Gimme a bell, piggy.

Or, rather more accurately, pay someone to do this.

Cheers man. No, DC2's were available in Championship White, Milano Red, Starlight Black and a few markets got a chance to buy a Bright Yellow one too !

  • Wow. Just wow.

What's it weigh compared with a b series?

Not thought about putting it in a P1800?

  • Wow. Just wow.

+1 amazing. Can't believe the level of commitment !

No idea what an MG-B coupe weighs, probably 1,000 kg less than my Volvo though.

1800's engine bay is too short to get a 5 cylinder engine in.

Just thinking that the extra weight/size/distribution of the C series 6 in the MGC ruined the car, so unless the Volvo 5 is lighter than the B and not much longer it might be a bad idea

  • Alloy 5 cylinder versus pig iron 4 cylinder?

I'd bet my engine is lighter.

  • Apologies for jumping in, but I just found this video of what has to be my favourite car of all time, and felt I needed to share it.

'course it is, its had more holes drilled into it

the dent doesn't look too deep or sharp, and if the paint hasn't been damaged then it's probably worth a shot.

best take it to a bodyshop that you know won't con you and ask their advice

  • Wow. Just wow.

Looks like the weather was as good this year as it was last.

The visibility on that track is unbelievable. The sound of the cams at the beginning, the transmission whine. Love it. One of my new favourite NLap vids. Good job Mick

Probably is, but turbos, intercoolers and all that shizz will add weight. While it's out of the car get it weighed and then you can see if it's a crap idea or a great one.
The other thing is the height and length compared with a B series. As well as the weight one of the reasons (iirc) that the MGC handled so badly compared to the MGB was that the length forced a different (torsion bar and telecopic damper) front suspension.

Sounds like a bloody good idea though. make a nice change from another V8.

The other thing that might be a great home for your Volvo engine would be a Marcos.

  • I'll see if I can dig up some comparative weights.

Of course, a trans-axle gearbox would help with weight distribution.
